Feb-05-05  square dance: <sb132> <Anyway, my point was just to point out the self centered arrogant view point many Americans have.> hey, its not our fault that you have an inferiority complex about your country.
Feb-05-05  sb132: I don't...I was mainly being sarcastic.

Oh Gypsy, you need to say the year when using that as a reference:) And I'm not European...!

Feb-05-05  Resignation Trap: <Open Defence> <<The difference between men and women who visit this site is so obvious, all the men want to see photos of the women players lol>>

Are we <really> that different, <Open Defence> ? Take a look at what you said about Alexander Grischuk a few days ago.

Feb-05-05  Minor Piece Activity: lol euripides. What woman can resist GK's irresistibly charming smile? Garry Kasparov
Feb-05-05  Gypsy: < Oh Gypsy, you need to say the year when using that as a reference:) > Why?

< And I'm not European...! > Actually, I gave it about 50/50 right from the start that you were an overly sensitive American. (Now I give it about 90/10.)

I just want to clear this: My opinions and world-views are mine and it is an eclectic collection to be sure. But I should be chastised for the limitations of my logic or shorcomings of my memory, education... not my friends from one place or another.

Feb-05-05  grandpajingles: i think laura is an inspiring young woman whos xpertise in chess is a + for her age group and is aggressive talented player who will 1 day b amoung the brighest chess players champion some day good luck laura in ur chess career
Feb-05-05  DanielBryant: Fortunately, the 2nd amendment does not give people at my school the right to bare arms. Tank tops are banned.
Feb-05-05  PinkPanther: <grandpajingles>
HUH????
Feb-05-05  sb132: Gypsy, I'm not chastising you...all in good humour...

<Why?> - because Europe seems to assimulate more countries each year - it was a stab at humour.

<Overly Sensitive American> - not American either...

"My Opinions and World Views are mine" Then why start on mine?

to bare arms??
i thought it was to arm bears!

tamar: <SBC> When the right to bear arms is outlawed, only outlaw bears will be armed. Do you want that?
Feb-05-05  SBC: <tamar>

<only outlaw bears will be armed. Do you want that?>

I don't know. Are they good shots?

Feb-05-05  Gypsy: <sb132: Gypsy, I'm not chastising you...all in good humour... <Why?> - because Europe seems to assimulate more countries each year - it was a stab at humour.> Oh. That was just one of possible interpretations of your quip. I actually ment the geological definition of the continent. The boundary separating Europe from Asia I long understood to run along Ural Mountains to perhaps Aral Lake, then to Kaspian Sea, and along Caukaz Mountains to the Black Sea.

<<Overly Sensitive American> - not American either...> I missed it then. You are one of the 10% I left for "other".

<"My Opinions and World Views are mine" Then why start on mine?> Giving you a hard time is not my intention. I made it long ago a personal policy to take people at face value. You asked a question, I tried to explain. I knew you could have been making a point, but yours was phrased as a straight question, so I answered it straight. And when later you said there was too much American-cetrism here, I wanted you to undestand that America realy should not be blamed for what I say or do.

Incidentaly -- to take a sudden 90 degree turn -- the Federalist Papers <tamar> aluded to is a remarkable group of doccuments and their study would be timely now because of the Euro-Constitution discussions.

Feb-05-05  Gypsy: In the meantime <tamar> <SBC> and <DanielBryant> are discusing the marksmaship of bears in tank-tops....

Open Defence: <euripides> I have a photo of Grischuk at me bedside table ;p
Feb-06-05  sb132: Gypsy, please take what I say with a pinch of humour...I was only having a little fun, but I allowed it to get a little too serious.
Feb-06-05  sb132: In Laura's game against Larry Kaufman (US 2003 L Ross vs Kaufman, 2003). She made a move to sacrifice her rook to get a check mate with King and remaining Rook.

She made some really good moves to get to that position, but Kaufman saw the trap. This led to a draw.

Their skill is clearly beyond mine, so I don't understand why.

Open Defence: <Resignation Trap> the moment women come accross a new player do we ask for a photo to see if he is hot ?

That's what I meant. Of course if the photo is already their and he/she is a hottie.. well

Feb-06-05  Gypsy: < sb132: Gypsy, please take what I say with a pinch of humour... > It will be a pleasure, friend. :-)
Feb-06-05  JamesKnight: Open Defense: Why don`t you send your pic to Chessgames and see if they`ll post it...much to the delight of all the male posters and oglers.

Hi grandpajingles and ot her forum members.
Lets hope so about Laura Ross, she certainly is talented. So many young chess femmes in North America give up the royal game. Laura Ross is also an extremely good student, from what I have read, so the world is open to her.She has had alot of support from her family. She has gained the Woman's Federation Master Title, and the folks at the Chess Superstore have done part of a video about her. She plays in the New York Masters Competiton: http://www.newyorkmasters.com/playe...
