He achieved a Canadian National Master certification from results in Ontario. He occasionally can be found analysing as User: ProSemi with commentary. He won the Kitchener Winter open in 2006 & the Rememberance Day open in 2002. By representing Ontario in 1979, he won the inaugural 1st Canadian Cadet Championship with 8.5/9 (he conceded a draw to Robert Graham Taylor of Saskatchewan, who finished at 2nd place).

A nice victory over a strong opponent was D Filipovich vs I Stohl, 1989.
