GrahamClayton: Fajans defeated Bobby Fischer at the Washington Square Park tournament in Greenwich Village, New York in late 1955. Fischer finished 15th out of 60 competitors. Has the score for this game survived?

Fajans played college chess for the City College of New York in the late 1920's, and was a long time member of the Marshall Chess Club.

HeMateMe: If this Fajan fellow played Fischer, shouldn't the game be here in the database? Or, is Fischer to young at this point for his games to be master level strength?
Sep-26-10  TheFocus: The score of many of Bobby's early games did not survive. He was not master level yet. Fajans defeat knocked Bobby out of this elimination tournament.

By the way, my research shows that there were 66 players. 60 is what Bobby remembered in his first book, but he was wrong.

Sep-26-10  TheFocus: Some books have Bobby's score as 4.5 - 3.5, and suggest his score was +4=1-3, but that is also incorrect. I can assure you that Bobby did not lose three games in this tournament.
