Aug-14-09  vonKrolock: Some of his chess articles are online (in Portuguese) includes <"Alekhine's Grave">, <"Awful Stories">, <"Games of the Match USSR vs Ponta Grossa City">, etc http://www.cxc.org.br/Holzmann.html
Jul-30-10  vonKrolock: list of state champions of Paraná State, in Brazil http://clubedexadrezdemaringa.blogs...
Oct-18-10  vonKrolock: An extraordinary simultaneous display was that, with clock, by <"the renowed hungarian International Master"> Vince Toth in the Curitiba Chess Club, November 30th 1958, agianst eight players, almost all at twenty-five or less years old, with the exception of Cordeiro and Tourinho. The final score, viewed from the simultanist's side was +0 =5 -3. Ruy Barbosa, Sylvio Dobrowolski and Ayrton Pereira Tourinho won their games, while Altino Alves Cordeiro, João Carlos Rotta, Vítor Hugo Bond, Marcos Moennich and Licurgo Holzmann drew their respective encounters. quote in quick translation <"the resulting score constituted notable exploit for the <paranaense> youth, if considered the actual difference between the force of a Master and of an amateur, and, moreover, if relieved that commonly the simultanist wins almost all, if not all the games , in this modality, even blindfolded , as occurred in the exhibitions carried out here, in 1957, by the genial Miguel Najdorf ">

Apr-28-11  Marcelo Bruno: It is a pity that you have only one game played by my cousin Licurgo Holzmann, but I would like first to clarify that he won 4 times the Paraná State Championship (thrice without a single loss, once winning 100%). On the other hand, the ChessBase software has at least all the games he played in 1964 for the São Paulo Zonal and the Brazilian Championship (in this last one, although he was the before last, he had a very beautiful win against João de Souza Mendes. If you want, I can post it.
Aug-11-11  vonKrolock: <you have only one game played by my cousin> Have a look at PGN Upload Utility

<he won 4 times the Paraná State Championship (thrice without a single loss, once winning 100%)> Sure, he's one of the greatest Paraná State Champions. The link I posted above had <?!> a list and some data

Aug-13-20  vonKrolock: Licurgo passed away in Curitiba, August 4th 2020, aged 86. He was from Ponta Grossa, Paraná State, born in 1933 (or 34?). Paraná State Champion in 1962, 63, 64 (in one of these with an unrivaled hundred percent score); and again in 1988.

Photo from 1988, took in Clube de Xadrez de Curitiba, during a Junior event (he acted as arbiter). Licurgo Holzmann first from right, standing.
