Mar-11-07 | | vonKrolock: This player is from El Salvador - First name? |
Mar-11-07
 | | alexmagnus: His first name is Hector. |
Mar-12-07 | | vonKrolock: Ah, therefore not the H Chavez starring the new Franz Liekind's musical "Fidel On The Roof" |
Mar-13-07 | | vonKrolock: It should be 'Liebkind' - Hector, from El Salvador... ok, but still a question on the famous sur-namesake: How good is his Chess? - a quote(Greg Palast) from the net: <"When I met with President Chávez in Caracas, in April 2002, he offered to write the introduction to the Spanish translation of my last book. I'm not crazy about politicians endorsing journalists, but I agreed on condition he meet the deadline: He'd have to write it before he's dead. Chávez wasn't overly concerned. "It's a game of chess, Mr. Palast. And I'm a very good chess player."> Something more concrete about this last statement: <"I'm a very good chess player."> ?! |

Nice guy! A real believer in the value of freedom, equality, dissent, healthy debate. |

Oct-28-08 | | walker: Short stole it. |

Oct-28-08 | | Caissanist: I'm currently playing most of my chess on the Spanish language site buho21.com, where most of the players are from Latin America; I love that site and most of the players there are nice and polite and fun to play against. Many of the Venezuelans, though, seem to hate me for being American (saying "vaya al infierno Bush" or something similar), and a few have refused to play me because of that. |

Oct-28-08 | | Karpova: Interesting to have that <Get your United States Greencard> advertisment next to the name <H Chavez>. Héctor Eduardo Chávez also reprented El Salvador at the 1996 (+1 -7 =6) and 1998 (+4 -4 =5) Olympiads. Source: http://www.olimpbase.org/2006/2006e...
And he'll also be present this year, according to http://tournaments.chessdom.com/che... <El Salvador: IM Hector Leyva, FM Lemmys A Arias, FM Ricardo Ernesto Chavez, Hector Eduardo Chavez, FM Nelson Martinez> |

Oct-31-08 | | Whitehat1963: This player is never going to threaten anyone in the top 100. So, let's talk about Hugo instead! So much more fun I consider him to be the most reasonable and fair-minded politician in the western hemisphere! |
Oct-31-08 | | Whitehat1963: I think Hugo would make a great White House press secretary for Barack Obama. I mean, everybody just KNOWS he's a socialist. Why hide it. I say put Hugo out front there. |
Oct-31-08 | | Whitehat1963: Belt that socialism, all that "share the wealth" nonsense, all the way to the back row! Nominate Hugo for White House press secretary. |
Oct-31-08 | | Caissanist: According to Chavez (Hugo, that is), the bank bailout shows that George Bush is more socialist than he ever was. Chavez now refers to him as "Comrade Bush". |
