IGOR GOLDENBERG
(born Jan-15-1969, 56 years old) Australia

[what is this?]
He is an IM. After an 18 year lay off from chess, Igor Goldenberg made his comeback in 2006, immediately winning Canberra's Easter weekend tournament, the Doeberl Cup, ahead of GM Ian Rogers. Later that year he won the Victorian Championship scoring 8/11, and repeated that feat in 2007, albeit as co-champion with IM Mirko Rujevic, and as outright winner in 2008. In November 2006, he came =2nd (4th on count back) at the Elwood Bendigo Bank Championship alongside GM Darryl K Johansen and IM Stephen John Solomon with 5.5/7, half a point behind Zhigen Wilson Lin. In 2007, he came 2nd at the Oceania Open Zonal Chess Championships behind GM Zhao Zong-Yuan and won the Dandenong Autumn Open with 6.5/7. In 2008 he took out the Victorian Open and the Dandenong Autumn Open. In 2009, he tied the Ballarat Begonia Open 6/7, alongside Erik O M C Teichmann. He scored 6.5/10 at the 2009 Queenstown Chess Classic, which in conjunction with his 2007 Oceania Zonal result, was enough to earn him his IM title. He placed 3rd in the 2011 George Trundle Masters held in Auckland, New Zealand.

Goldenberg's peak rating was 2411 in April 2009.
