  MissScarlett: <(London Evening Standard 2 April 1894 p. 6)>

Not to labour a point but this paper is <The Standard>; the <Evening Standard> was its sister paper until the titles effectively merged in 1916. Don't get <Harding> started on this.

<1912 Jul-Aug-Sep: Henry W Peachey, 51 (Civil Reg. Death Index)>

Whenever I see 1912 as a year of death, my immediate thought is...were they on the Titanic?

2020 and coronavirus will become like that.

  Tabanus: <The Standard> https://www.britishnewspaperarchive... calls it London Evening S., but I'll try to remember.

He is <not> on Titanic list :) I tried in vain to find a mention in the newspapers, 1898 and 1912.

  John Saunders: Richard James, in one of his 'Minor Pieces' articles, refutes the theory that this is Henry Walter Peachey and identifies him as Henry William Peachey (1863-1920): link https://minorpieces.uk/2025/06/17/m... (he doesn't give d.o.b. or d.o.d.)
