Jun-15-20  hemy: <Tabanus> Indeed interesting details about Samsonas Zilius.

His name in chess columns of Lithuanian language USA newspapers ("Draugas", "Driva", "Darbininkas", "„Lietuvių dienos") was mentioned only in the list of Lithuanians in the USA Chess Ratings.

"USA Postal Chess ratings 1951" - 1450
"USA Postal Chess ratings 1952" - 1462
"National Chess Ratings 1958" - 1600
"USCF National Ratings 1964" - 1572.

Jun-16-20  hemy: <Tabanus> The details you found and the story about Samsonas Zilius were added to the draft of the chapter "Lithuanian chess players in exile" of the "Lithuanian chess history up to XXI century" project. This chapter have already 330 pages.

Special thanks for you from Eugenijus Paleckis, who is Klaipeda native (like Zilius). Your help is much appreciated, thanks from me as well.

Tabanus: <hemy> Happy to help :) I just searched on Zilius in CG and found him here, and in Anc.. com since he lived in the US.

There is an Algirdas Nasvytis in the same event (58th US Open (1957)), plus an unknown L Klavins, and maybe more.

Jun-16-20  hemy: <Tabanus> Algirdas Nasvytis is well represented in the project, his name mentioned 105 times.

<Klavins> is a typical Latvian family name.
