alexmagnus: Oh, the boy who brought to me my worst chess trauma made it to this database.April 2008, Unicorn Open. I was 21, Zsigmond 10. It is my first tournament game, but I played a lot of online blitz and would say my OTB level was ~1500 back then (that tournament went completely wrong after this gamelet for me though - 1300ish TPR, but at least I beat one 1800). Zsigmond was rated 1600ish (but performed somewhere 1900ish in that tournament).
I see the pairings of the first round, go to my table, and see I have to play my very first tournament game against a little kid. I see how his parents wish him a good game, then we shake hands, he says "Good game", and the game starts. Nothing predicted it ending with my loss 4 minutes later.
Szajbely, Zsigmond (1636) - Kornijenko, Alexander (unrated)
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.0-0 Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 0-0 8.a4 Bb7 9.d3 d6
Here my book knowledge ended. But with a little kid as opponent I continued bulleting (as did he, but obviously knowing what he did!)
10.Nbd2 Re8 11.Nf1 Bf8 12.Ne3 Nb8 13.Ng5 g6?????
He looked for a moment in disbelief... Of course, I noticed this horrible one-move blunder by me too..
14.Nxf7 Qe7 15.Nxd6+ Kg7?? 16.Nef5+ 1-0. I shook my head, resigned, and wanted just to disappear from the playing hall as quickly as possible...
The game lasted 4 minutes and some seconds. "Already finished?" - I heard his parents asking him. I'm sure it was his quickest, in terms of time taken, tournament win ever (in terms of moves surely not - I know of at least one 15-move win by him).
I watched him playing till the end of the tournament, seeing him beating 2000s. Now he is rated 2261, I still occasionally search for his games and would like to see and/or play him again, just for fun.
