perfidious: Some photos of the young Rosenberg at the link below:

Then he became famous.

Aug-23-25  FM David H. Levin: The opening sentence of the bio ("Michael Rosenberg has long been regarded as one of the top bridge players in the United States.") is accurate but rather an understatement: he's a world-class player and analyst. See, for example, <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micha...>.
Aug-23-25  FM David H. Levin: Michael is also unassuming and quick to acknowledge others' contributions.

There was a thread at the Bridge Winners dot com website that concerned the defense in a particular deal. At a crucial moment, the player in question led a club, which defeated the contract and had received unanimous support from posters. I wrote that I couldn't think of a plausible layout of the cards in which a club would succeed but a spade would fail.

The first four words of Michael's reply were, "Perfect analysis, I believe." I found that really generous.

perfidious: <FM DHL>, while responsible for that modification, I prefer a more understated approach or down-the-middle objectivity to edits lapsing into fanlike blathering, which leaves me cold and wondering what the reader is supposed to glean from such a portrait.
Aug-23-25  areknames: In my playing days a couple of friends of mine got bored with chess and switched to playing bridge competitively. Excellent players as they were - one even made IM - they achieved even better results in bridge and had, it seems, much more fun.

perfidious: Irina Levitina has also got away from chess and turned to bridge.
