EDUARDS GORNEVS
(born Aug-08-1908, died Nov-01-1991, 83 years old) Latvia

Eduards Gorņevs was born in the Ludza region of Latvia on August 8, 1908 and died on November 1, 1991 in Riga. He did not learn chess until he was a grownup, but he proved a strong player. He finished shared 10th in the 1948 Latvian championship, and finished 3rd in a strong tournament in Riga 1958. He also placed 3rd in the 1959 Riga championship semifinal. He represented the Vairog chess team on 1st board, and played 4th board for the Latvian team against Estonia in 1959. Gornevs achieved the title of Candidate Master.1
