GrahamClayton: Is this the same Hugo Bruel (1854-1910) who lived in Providence RI and was a landscape artist?

rhmberger: It's a shame that you can no longer find H. Bruel on chessgames.com. This name variant was often used.
He was champion of the Rhode Island State Chess Association in 1896, 1897, 1898, and 1902.
American chess bulletin v.19 (1922), p 51-52. https://hdl.handle.net/2027/hvd.hxr...
has a complete list from 1887 to 1922.

jnpope: We can only do one or the other and Breul shows up more often in newspaper chess reports (and it's the proper spelling of his name).

Another case where a match via alias would be beneficial.
