James McConnell, Jr., born 9 September 1866, New Orleans; died 21 August 1934, New Orleans. Son of James McConnell and Delphine Angelique McConnell (née Blanc).
An attorney in the legal department of Fenner and Beane, and member of a prominent family, died in Touro infirmary Tuesday, he was 68 years old, and lived at 3717 South Clairborne avenue.
A native of New Orleans, and a graduate of the Tulane law school in 1887, he practiced for many years with Zach Spearing. He was for a time in the legal department of the Federal Land bank, and about two years ago began his connection with Fenner and Beane.
He was a longstanding member of the New Orleans Chess, Checkers and Whist club, and was state chess champion for several years. (1)
