Won the 30th ChessOrg Schachfestival 2014 in Germany. (1) He was also a FIDE Trainer (2016).

IM in 1990, GM in 1992. Rated 2555 in 1993 (World no. 123). Rated 2555 in 1997, 2565 in July 2004. Chessmetrics has 2593 and World no. 72 in 1989.

He is a team player, incl. in German Bundesliga and for chess club Moss in Norway. Said to be very solid, rarely losing to players < 2650, and often winning against < 2400.

Champion of Lithuania 1983 (shared), 1986, 2001 (shared), and 2008.

Apr-09-13  Kurochi: <Shams> No, Grivas starts out with 2...Nc6, which may lead to openings like Rossolimo and similar, so it's not that easy to get into it.. Kveinys plays Kan move order and I find it an easier way to get into Qb6 stuff - 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Qb6. Now the only move is 5. Nb3, all others - and black is at least equal. (e.g. 5. Nc3 Bc5!)
