  jnpope: Jan-26-16 zanzibar: From <NY Daily Tribune> 1857.10.10 p5:

<One of the most entertaining episodes of the Congress was a bout between Mr. Paulsen and S. Heilbuth, esq. The latter gentleman's play is brilliant to a degree, and were it not for occasional defects in the analysis of his moves, his reputation would be equal to that of any player in the States. Professional engagements prevented his undertaking more than one game, which he lost after fifteen moves when victory seemed already in his grasp. There is some talk of a match for $500 a side between these two gentlemen, and much sorrow is expressed that Mr. Heilbuth did not enter as one of the contestants in this Grand Tournament. His own reason is, he has no ambition for being a victor.>
