offramp: Player of the day. Stalin means man of steel and Stanec means man of tin.
Apr-29-14  waustad: Happy birthday to one of the top Austrian players. Though he doesn't have new games here, he plays a lot, mostly in leagues.
Sep-06-14  waustad: Today starts the Vienna Championship and his first round opponent is Rainer Buhmann. Both in this tournament and at the Grenke Chess Classic 2014 the top two rated players meet in the first round. Live games are here: http://chess-results.com/LiveTourna...
Sep-12-14  waustad: His play has been fairly typical for him. He is at +1 with many draws, some of them very short, and one rather interesting win. He's 1/2 point behind the leader and has a shot at winning. This strategic approach to a tournament has won him many titles in Austria. This may be another one. His 8 move draws aren't that interesting, but his real games can be very nice.
Apr-29-16  TheFocus: Happy birthday, Nikolaus Stanec.
Jul-29-18  waustad: Congratulations on yet another win in the Austrian championship. http://chess-results.com/tnr341338....
