<Winter cites sources erroneously giving his year of death as 1935. Gaige (Chess Personalia) gives his name as 'Keidanski, [Theodore?] Hermann' and indicates that later he went by the name 'Keidanz'. Di Felice gives his name as 'Keidanski, Hermann' in one place and 'Keidanz, Theodore Hermann' in other places.>

Well, he did die in 1935 according to the <Report of the Death of an American Citizen> by the American Consular Service in Berlin. His body was taken charge of by his brother, Albert Keidanski. It's unclear if Keidanz or Keidanski is the family name.

The -ski suffix is associated with nobility so it's possible the brother added it to his name to make himself appear more regal or Hermann dropped it to sound less Polish.

jnpope: Nearly lost the old thread when I merged Keidanz and Keidanski, lucky for me I kept a window open and captured the old thread. Posting here for preservation.

In the photo, if his "facial hair" was a bit shorter he'd look pretty much like Dr.E.Lasker himself! :-)>
