GrahamClayton: "Warren Kreckler, age 66, of Rogers Park in Chicago, died at home on August 9, 2017 following a battle with cancer. Warren was a gifted chess player (USCF Master) and a talented computer graphics designer. He was devoted to his loving partner of almost 25 years, Sophia Gates, and their cats. Warren was a fixture at the local chess clubs and the No Exit Cafe in Rogers Park and published the Illinois Chess Bulletin for several years. He was an ardent chef and loved classical music."

  Tabanus: Kokomo Tribune, 13 Nov 1972, p. 3:

<Povilas Tautvaisas (Paul Tautvaisas) of Chicago captured the Midwest Chess Classic and the S300 first prize in an upset, while chess masters Andrew Kirkins and Harry Ploss finished in a three-way tie for third along with Paul Cornelius. Tautvaisas had 5 points, followed by Warren Kreckler with 4½ points and Kirkins, Ploss and Cornelius, all 4-1. All five men are from Chicago.>

perfidious: Best guess is that 'Kirkins' was actually Andrew Karklins.
