GrahamClayton: "I started playing chess at the age of 13. I taught myself from an encyclopedia. I studied books, played chess computers, and played some blindfold games (winning them!) before I played rated chess. My first provisional rating was 1856 in 1985 and I eventually became a correspondence master in 1992 and a National Master in 1996. I won the World Open in Philadelphia tied for 1st in the U1900 section in 1989 and I won the National Open in Las Vegas 1st in the Under 2200 section in 1996. In 1997, I quit playing OTB rated chess and returned back to the game in 2013. In 2013, I won the Masters section for the San Diego Chess Club Championship Qualifier. I am currently the administrator for the Temecula Chess Club, a premier chess club in Southern California."
