In 1980, FIDE Master Paul Ross of Ontario won the Canadian Cadet Championship with 7/9 (Saskatchewan's Robert Graham Taylor finished 1/2 point behind in 2nd place for the 2nd time in as many years as the event had been held). He and his brother David Ross are registered on Canada's World team (50+) Championship at Dresden in June, 2016 (finished with 3.5/6 out of nine total games).
