Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-27-10  Nightsurfer: Without knowing that there has been a historic precedence the German lawyer Ulrich Gass from Heilbronn has re-invented the idea of a gambit that the German E. Busch has first introduced into tournament play in 1906, please replay J W Baird vs E Busch, 1906, therefore that very gambit <1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Bc5!?> today is known as "Busch-GASS Gambit". Apart from enriching opening theory and working for his law business the creative Ulrich Gass (born in 1948) is co-organizer of the ATP-"Heilbronn Open" since 1984. More information by checking out a German-language interview with the former player in the German Federal League of Chess (for several years Ulrich Gass was a member of the team MARKTHEIDENFELD): http://www.chessbase.de/nachrichten...
Nov-27-10  Nightsurfer: Great minds tend to think alike: 38 years after <Ulrich Gass> has re-invented that very gambit that has first first been launched by <E.Busch> in 1906 - please compare J W Baird vs E Busch, 1906 - , it is Hamburg-based Master <Massoud Amini> who is actually an enthusiastic promoter of the Busch-GASS-Gambit, without having heard of <Mr. E.Busch> or <Mr. Ulrich Gass> before. That is the 2nd relaunch of the Busch-GASS-Gambit, after its premiere in 1906 (J W Baird vs E Busch, 1906) and after the 1st relaunch by <Mr. Ulrich Gass> in 1972 - though with rather mixed results quite recently: R Gralla vs Massoud Amini, 2010 ...

perfidious: That set-to could get ugly very quickly if Gass were to pass Wind.
