GrahamClayton: "Fawbush was the first player of three to be awarded a Life Master Certificate by APCT. Fawbush was a fascinating character who played a wide variety of openings. He would begin the game by sending a long string of "If-moves" from some side variation of a major opening. This meant his opponents had to make a major decision right at the beginning...Fawbush would spend the extra postage to send his move on a scrap piece of paper inside an envelope...Fawbush would only sign his initials "G.E.F."".
