Joseph Rauch finished first (11.5/12) at the American Chess Federation Championship (later U.S. Open Championship), "A" Tournament, 1938 and played in seven Canadian Championships: 1937 (3rd), 1938, 1940 (2nd), 1945, 1946 (4th), 1949 and 1959. He was also Montreal City Champion in 1940, 1941 and 1942 and shared first in 1947.

Mar-23-25  Alan McGowan: An obituary notice referenced by Ancesty (and Canadian chess archivist/historian Stephen Wright) shows that Dr Rauch died 16 December 1984 (The Gazette, 18 December 1984).
