Oluf Kavlie-Jørgensen was born in Bergen. He was Norwegian Champion in 1938, and played in the Olympiads 1930 (+3 =4 -8), 1936 (board 2, +2 =4 -11) and 1937 (bd. 2, +1 =5 -9). He was the strong man in Bergens Schakklub through almost 60 years.
