Strangely this was one of the Chess brothers in Lincoln, Nebraska where the Open was played that year. Naturally no computer program could enter a tourney as prestigious as the US Open.

Coinkydinkally, the first tourney I played was the Boston Open where MIT entered a computer program. Unfortunately for the geeks, it was blind to outside passed pawns...heh.
