Sep-16-05  domradave: Bill Goichberg is the best organizer of chess tournaments in the USA. His father Sol Goichberg was one of the greatest mandolin players who ever lived. His recording of the Vivaldi concerto is still available.
Sep-16-05  RookFile: Bill at one time was a 2300 player,
but hasn't played in a long while.

HeMateMe: I didn't know Goichberg had been rated this high, 2330, near IM level. When I Was a kid his name was always in US Chess Life, sponsoring this or that tournament. I always assumed he was just a club player who liked to sponsor events.
Sep-16-18  Howard: Goichberg was in the top-50 list of US players back around 1975 or 1976--still remember that !

louispaulsen88888888: I always knew him as an organizer, not a player, but I sensed he was a very good player by some of the decisions he made and other little things. Nice game here.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Didn't Mr. Goichberg also organize the first World Open tournaments during the 1970s?
Jul-04-23  Caissanist: Yes, he did. He founded the Continental Chess Association, which runs those tournaments.
