May-08-04  Hanada: It's nice to know supeheros can still play chess.
May-08-04  iron maiden: Although judging by her win record, not very well.
May-08-04  Bobsterman3000: Supergirl's ELO is higher, plus her costume fits better...
Sep-25-04  Knight13: I bet it's not a strong chess Engine.

BishopBerkeley: I wonder if our own Batgirl (<SBC> aka Serendipitous Sarah) is familiar with this program?

Well, it's probably not a sufficiently important question to summon her with the Bat Signal for ( http://www.central.edu/homepages/li... ).

That is generally reserved for questions about Paul Morphy , who is something like a superhero in his own way.

(: ♗ Bishop Berkeley ♗ :)

OhioChessFan: What superhero do you think would be the best chess player?
Oct-12-05  mynameisrandy: I dunno, but make sure you play something out of book against Batman. He's fearsome when he's prepared.
Oct-12-05  Stonewaller2: The Shadow, what with knowing what evil lurks in the hearts of men and the power to cloud men's minds.
Oct-12-05  harrwitz: <mynameisrandy> That makes me wonder what opening Batman would play as Black. On the actual topic of this page, I wonder about the motivations behind naming a computer, "Spidergirl."

OhioChessFan: I found an interesting site called the Dictionary of Superheroes. A few possibilities for the best chess player listed there: Bishop Black Knight Gambit Hydra Shredder But the one that I think might win would be Doctor Mindbender: "Once a kind and honest man, Dr. Mindbender was at one time an excellent orthodontist, who tinkered with electric brainwave stimulation as a means of relieving dental pain. This master of mind control, armed with his digital brain-scrambling weapon, can reduce the most strong willed individual into a cowering wimp."
Dec-23-05  Chess Classics: We should get Yoozum or TheAlchemist to do a Moscow story involving a tournement by various superheroes. :-)

Regards,
CC

Jun-27-07  whiteshark: The successor engine was <SpiderChess> : http://www.csvn.nl/index.php?option...
Dec-05-08  whiteshark: Looking at the final table again I like to draw your attention to rank 18.

:D

Jun-01-09  Dredge Rivers: Spidergirl,
Spidergirl,
does everything
a spider whirl!
