Aug-23-07  InspiredByMorphy: Portela is an underrated player. I have enjoyed watching his games. He played well against Capablanca winning one , drawing one, and playing a game he lost that he could of had a winning position in. See post by Lawrence... Capablanca vs R Portela, 1913

Benzol: Is he any relation to Carlos Portela
Aug-24-07  Calli: Good point. Think they are the same person, but I can't be sure.
Aug-03-22  wrap99: Died young almost a century ago but remembered for as long as chess is played because of his games vs the World champ. A good reason to play chess, I think. Although tough to even get a game vs a World champ for most people. But play in a simul and do your best to win or draw or at least play an interesting game.
