Feb-21-07  vaevictis: Anybody know about this player?

I'm interested in him because of his game against Smyslov in 1940 during the Torpedo Club Championship in Moscow.

I understand the Torpedo Club is a football club in Moscow, interesting that they had a chess tournament.

Dec-12-08  brankat: Born a hundred years to a day!

Happy Birthday Mr.Kirillov!

There was a "Torpedo Chess Club" in Moscow at the time. Names like Torpedo, Dynamo, Spartacus ... were very common for various sports, and chess organizations. And, still are.
