Kibitzer's Corner
May-23-17  zanzibar: S = Stanislav

http://www.nss.cz/ukol--identifikace

His photograph is also included, a fine dauber (young?) man he was.

It's a little confusing though, as his name is listed as

<Stanislav Jareš (Šerý)>

Is Jareš a middle-name, or his non-chess playing surname?

.

May-23-17  zanzibar: It would be nice to find the bio dates for this player - I'll try a little, but a native speaker would have a far easier time of it.

Sery played along side Kafka (yes, that Kafka) in at least one club match:

May-23-17  zanzibar: OK, I think I found it, at least to within the year...

<165 Stanislav Šerý (1884–1954), mistr ÚJČŠ (Malá encyklopedie šachu, s. 376).>

http://www.chess.cz/kraje/khss/2008... (p330)

.

May-23-17  zanzibar: *dauber* = *dapper" of course.

A crude and inartistic mistake, apologies.
