Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-05-09  PhilFeeley: I wonder what he was doing between 2000 & 2008?
Feb-05-09  GreenArrow: <PhilFeeley> Deliberately losing rating points it seems. There have been numerous complaints about this man maintaining a low rating to win U2200 prizes and enter lower events. He is back at Gibraltar this year and is almost guaranteed the U2200 prize of 2000 pounds (which goes a very long way in Russia).
Feb-05-09  dumbgai: A sandbagger? Tsk tsk. I faced one once, when I was playing in the U1500 section of the North American Open. Going into the final round, I had 5/6 (joint third place; the two players with 6/6 were facing each other), and my opponent turned out to be an 1800 player who had tossed enough games in the past couple of months to drop to 1499. I got around $700 after the draw, whereas I would have had around $3000 for a win. Oh well.
Feb-05-09  Minty: Titled players should be ineligible for U2200 prizes anyway, no matter how far their rating has fallen.
