GrahamClayton: I think this player is actually Karl Lepge (1831-1890).
Aug-18-20  whiteshark: "Karl Lepge (1831-1890) and August Saalbach played a series of games, two of which are recorded in <Fiske's (and Morphy's) 1860 Chess Monthly>. Both Lepge and Saalbach had some losses published in Schachzeitung against Anderssen and Paulsen. They were all played even, so apparently they were both players of some force. In this KGA (Bishop's Gambit) game Saalbach loses to Lepge's clever, some might say brilliant, play:"

Oct-11-22  stone free or die: Berger's <Schach-Jahrbuch: für ... 1892/93> has his bio (definitely not Carl):

<Lepge , Karl,*1831, +20./10.90, was a music teacher in Leipzig, last innkeeper in Zwenkau; one of the strongest German chess players 50-65.>

https://books.google.com/books?id=H...

Does this give his dod as Oct 20, 1890?
