I sometimes post links to those video annotations on the relevant games here. Please use the "Subscribe" button on my channel page to keep notified of new ones.

Played in the main British Chess Championship twice now, scoring 4.5 and 5 respectively (out of 11 - it is tough!).

I have created various video annotation grouping pages, which may be of interest for you to check out:

I'm not named Kingscrusher for nothing. I learned chess at the age of 5 and have been addicted every since. It was through watching my father playing against my brother that I picked up the game.

My other hobbies watching the latest films, Computing, going out, seeing friends, watching TV.

The answer to life, the universe and everything was forty-two according the the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. But maybe for chess players it should be 64!!

When i was nearly 18, I managed to win the UK LLoyds bank Under 18 championship! In later years I attained a FIDE rating through the Lloyds bank Masters tournaments and through other tournaments such as Surrey and all play alls organised through Adam Raoof. Currently FIDE rated 2177. My BCF grading has been fluctuating over the years and is currently about 185 BCF, and I am play for Board 1 for both Barnet chess club and Muswell Hill chess club. My full chess cv can be found here:-

(sorry for the use of Wayback machine!)

https://web.archive.org/web/2019081...

In 2008, I finally qualified for the British Chess Championship by coming 2nd= at the Southend Open tournament with an ECF 206 performance.

University- I studied computing in business and obtained a 2:1 honours degree

My life advice is: have fun and enjoy life to the maximum! - I hope that chessworld.net helps in this goal! :-))))

   May-12-25 Hromadka vs J Dobias, 1911

kingscrusher: This game is not quite ideal because 8.Ne5 was much more accurate - not using up the e5 square, means the e5 push is available to White. [DIAGRAM] What this means is that for example: Say black had castled instead of 8...Be6, then Black would have been fine against either ...

   May-10-25 Mike Papa Jr

kingscrusher: I am curious of the name "Papa-Ticulat Gambit" - according to Google AI: "The Papa-Ticulat Gambit in the French Defense (1. e4 e6 2. b3) is named after Jean-Claude Papa-Ticulat, a French chess player from the 1950s" I wonder if Papa Junior is the son of Jean-Claude ...

   May-10-25 Horwitz vs E Pindar, 1861

kingscrusher: Judging by this horrible loss, perhaps Chessgames.com should rename the gambit as "Reti/Papa Gambit" - Reti just had a draw though but he was winning. Papa had some good wins with it.

   May-05-25 G Jones vs Nijboer, 2004

kingscrusher: 8.Nxd5 is an incredible tactical shot [DIAGRAM]

   Apr-16-25 Capablanca vs A Ribera Arnal, 1935

kingscrusher: b6 is a great example in my view of not prioritising King safety and instead doing a routine developing move. A lot of beginner sites have 3 major opening principles - Develop, Center, Castle. I would say Castling is just an example of King safety, and prefer the priority order

Apr-16-25 Capablanca vs J Torres Caravaca, 1929 (replies)

kingscrusher: 5... d5 pawn sac needs to be played : [DIAGRAM] And black should be fine overall So e5 as pointed out might not be the key issue. It is the follow up.

   Apr-15-25 Capablanca vs A Chase, 1922

kingscrusher: An amazing positional Queen sacrifice for two pieces. A must see game in a novel King's Gambit :)

   Apr-14-25 Capablanca vs J Baca Arus, 1912

kingscrusher: Brilliant game where black's dark square problems start with that 10...g6 move. But what a great exploitation by Capablanca.

   Apr-13-25 Capablanca vs R Gibson, 1910

kingscrusher: <YoungEd> Yes I think you mean 9. Nxd5 and it does indeed look pretty convincing: [DIAGRAM]

Jan-16-14  Shams: <kingscrusher> , did you make a video about this scalp of yours? I'm brand new to the French and I'd love to hear your analysis. Are you still keen on 8...g5<?>

P J Sowray vs T Gavriel, 2009

kingscrusher: <Shams:> Yep I guess I should annotate this at some point. Recently Peter Sowray achieved an IM norm at the London Chess Classic.
Feb-19-14  MarkFinan: Hi.. I'm looking for a game played by a GM who played his best chess in the 60's and 70's called, Evans. This game was brought to my attention by way of an instructional chess video a good 3 year ago now, and I can't remember if it was one of yours. I just wandered if you can remember making any on any Evans game and if so could you post a link to the ones you have made by that player? I realise I'm being very vague, and I realise there's been a few GM's called Evans, and I really can't find this game anywhere on this site even though i was pretty sure I commented on it before! It's a game that someone like you with your knowledge of the game, wouldn't forget. I think it ended in a draw although not the "notable game" with Reshevsky on his player page here.. It's really starting to annoy me that I can't find it now.. Thanks in advance for any information 😃

moronovich: <Mark> Could be Larry Evans.
Feb-19-14  MarkFinan: Well yeah, I think it was him. But seeing as I can't find the game it could be another Evans, because it's a pretty common name.
Feb-19-14  crawfb5: <Mark> You did comment on Spassky vs Larry Evans, 1962, but that was only a few weeks ago, so maybe that's not the game you seek.
Feb-19-14  MarkFinan: crawfb5.. It is a real possibility that I'm even getting his name wrong mate, lol.. But I don't think I am. I even looked at my previous handles for comments on an Evans game, and even though they were only quick 5 minute looks, I couldn't see any comments.. I started thinking it was Christiansen for some reason too, then I looked at the only game in the database between Evans and Chriatiansen but it's not that game either..

I'll find it soon enough, someone will realise what game I'm on about because it's one of those games you don't forget.. Unless you're me, lol 😃

Feb-19-14  MarkFinan: R Byrne vs Larry Evans, 1965

Mr Crusher, crawf5, Moronovich.. I found it! Strangely enough for me, I got the result of the game wrong. And other minor details, lol. 😃

I just now saw your old messages to me on youtube, and I've replied.

I thought they had eliminated the "inbox" but I ran into it by accident yesterday, but had to watch a YOUTUBE VIDEO TUTORIAL ON HOW TO FIND YOUR INBOX to find my inbox again today.

At any rate....

I am trying to join the ECF forum and the first hurdle to register was that I had to know Mickey Adams was currently the highest rated ECF player....

Good grief.

Nov-02-14  Big Pawn: Kingscrusher - love your vids and especially the way you take your time in going over the games. very unhurried and very instructive, and entertaining too.

I don't know if you've seen this incredible game (dutch leningrad) between Houdini and Komodo. It's mind boggling and features a most unusual material imbalance.

AylerKupp: <kingscrusher> If you haven't seen the recently completed The World vs Naiditsch, 2014, you might want to take a look at it. The position after 24...c6 reminds me of White's position in R Byrne vs Fischer, 1963 after 14.Rfd1; Black is lost no matter what he does in a seemingly equal position, with a pawn advantage, no less. And the moves leading up to it and the motivations behind it are equally interesting. Black had <one> chance to save the game by 24...Rd4 but apparently did not fully appreciate the danger and did not play it, just like R.Byrne did not fully appreciate the danger by playing 14.Rfd1 instead of 14.Rad1.

And a Happy New Year to you from one of your many fans.

KC, you're awesome! That's why these guys fear you!

May-18-16  chessbeginer84: KC love your videos keep up the good work a long time ago I had the chance to play an IM from Romania I lost the game due to tactical errors the game was for 3 hours because he was playing 20 other people at the same time I was on defense mode the entire game. After the game he said I was about 1350 and my first mistake was playing the caro kann defense that they don't use that opening no longer is there any advice you could give me with tactics and strategies

kingscrusher: <chessbeginer84:> The Caro-kann is a perfectly viable opening. If you can afford some investment, perhaps get some books from Amazon on the Caro-Kann. There is a Kasparov book which shows quite a few lines where black castles queenside.

For tactics and strategy in general, perhaps consider getting the books by Yasser Seirawan. They seem really nice to me.

<Tryfon>

I have recently been watching many of videos that feature your "Knight Tango" openings, now expanded to the white pieces?!

It reminded me of a Latvian chess player of some note- he had decent results, and he played the "Knight Tango" with both colors, just like you!?

I wrote his biography and uploaded as many of his games I could find- many "tangoes" in here I can tell you:

Nils Elisons

I also learned that the tango with white is called <The Dunst Opening>.

I think this is the most impressive tango game, in which <Elisons> beats <Vladimir Petrov>, probably the strongest pre-Tal Latvian chess master:

Nils Elisons vs Vladimir Petrov, 1928

1.Nc3?! and away we go.....
