offramp: 32...Rxe4 would have ended the game straight away.
Jan-14-05  lronTigran: Not really, 32. ... Rxe4 33. Qb3+ and black doesn't have an attack (Qg3 is an option), and the queens on the board make the win harder. The best move for black would probably be 34. ... Qe6 35. Qxe6 Rxe6 36. cxb6, after which the black rook is less actively placed than in the game.

  offramp: I was thinking of something like 32...♖xe4 33.♕b3+ d5 34.cxb6 ♖e1+ 35.♔g2 ♕e4+ 36.♕f3 ♖g1+.
Jan-17-05  lronTigran: Yeah, sorry, I didn't see 35. ... Qe4+, but the fact Zukertort didn't either is comforting. When I actually looked at the position I saw another line, instead of Qe4+, one can play 35. ... Qg6+ 36. Qg3 Qb1! when the best move for white is 37. Rh1, and after 37. ... Rxh1 the white queen is also in danger. If adjournment was at move 40 then the hasty, and less complicated, decision 32. ... Qxe4 can be explained by time pressure. It definetely explains my earlier recommendation!
Oct-14-15  Knight13: 10. Nd2? makes no sense when 10. O-O and 10. Qe2 are available.
Apr-22-17  Cheapo by the Dozen: I agree completely with <Knight13>.
