Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-17-03  John Doe: That was pathetically easy. How could Yuri overlook it?
Jul-17-03  Giuoco Piano Man: It was obviously a blunder. Maybe time trouble?
Jul-17-03  Benjamin Lau: He can't be that good of a player if he still plays the Philidor... (See the link to his games.)
Jul-17-03  drunknight II: THere is nothing wrong with Philidors defense. GO ahead show me a game that proves it is unsound.
Jul-17-03  Benjamin Lau: It's not unsound. Just not very good. :-)
Jul-17-03  drunknight II: I know, oftentimes I feel that I will run out of space when I play it. SOme of the best games ever played black loses and it's like he's in a traffic jam.

Well the French is like that too, but no one complains about that. Nooooo.

Jul-17-03  mrwonkabar: What line makes 22 Qxd5 (winning a bishop) not good?

Sneaky: What good is "winning" a bishop at the cost of a rook? 22. Qxd5 exd5 23. Rxe7 Nxe7 and Black is up the exchange.

jaime gallegos: Would be 76. Qg3 the best movement for whites ?
Jul-17-03  Benjamin Lau: <Well the French is like that too, but no one complains about that. Nooooo. > People just have biases I guess. The lack of space and general activity in the Philidor is used as an example of what a bad opening looks like in most beginners' books but yet the French's lack of space is brushed off because it's a "strategic opening." :-)
Oct-04-04  shakespeare918: why not one move 22.qxd5!
Oct-04-04  maoam: <shakespeare918>

22.Qxd5? exd5 23.Rxe7 Nxe7

Feb-06-06  alexandrovm: that end can happend to anyone, even to someone as with a strength of a 2400 player such as Shabanov.
Jun-17-06  DANTONIFAYARD: regarding the lost of the queen, it is a tremendous stumble that could happen because of fatigue. i have done erroneous movements due to the fatigue.
