Jul-31-07  actionhero56: <PAWNTOEFOUR> Thank you it's not even close to being a draw
Jul-31-07  ruyv: now Carlsen would love not to have that f pawn...
Jul-31-07  daniellovesbeer: good point ruyv
Jul-31-07  jtd200: trying for R+, KxR, stalemate?
Jul-31-07  Marmot PFL: <like a GM> Game 12 Fischer-Spassky 1972, Fischer did the same thing (Bx h pawn) knowing the piece would be trapped, but either thinking it would escape or he would get sufficent play or material. Both Fischer & Carlsen play very quickly, which puts the other player under pressure but also leads to mistakes sometimes.
Jul-31-07  ruyv: maybe pelletier 40 move will be Kxf and then perpetual with the rook
Jul-31-07  vizir: likeaGM> sometimes Magnus plays weird moves

remember the time he gave up a full knight for nothing against Topalov.

Jul-31-07  daniellovesbeer: Draw!!!!!!
Jul-31-07  gmgomes: now Magnus has got rid of his f pawn... stalemate?
Jul-31-07  actionhero56: how is that a draw? u guys are stupid
Jul-31-07  iron maiden: Crazy rook coming up.
Jul-31-07  jtd200: Right! Can't Magnus perpetually check, and if KxR, draw?
Jul-31-07  beenthere240: can anyone say stalemate?
Jul-31-07  Ybrevo: And now, what is this f-pawn raid all about? I donĀ“t understand a bit of it - do you?
Jul-31-07  ssj: No draw Mag lost it.
Jul-31-07  ruyv: I think the king escapes ...finito
Jul-31-07  Guramakonda: Now we know, it is a draw!
Jul-31-07  Jesspatrick: Carlsen is trying to create a "super rook" that cannot be captured because of stalemate.
Jul-31-07  Ybrevo: If this IS a stalemate, Carlsen is a genius!!!
Jul-31-07  actionhero56: Carlsen lost
Jul-31-07  daniellovesbeer: DRAW!!!!!
Jul-31-07  MorphysMojo: It's a win for Pelletier, he has the time to work it out now, and Carlsen probably knows it. This tournament is not in the bag for anyone.
Jul-31-07  acirce: There is no perpetual. Pelletier isn't stupid. Depending on what White tries, the king will escape to for example c3.
Jul-31-07  Chuckles: Can't the black king just escape the checks on the queenside?
Jul-31-07  Caloy: King can hide in C6 eventually and stops the perpetual check
