Sep-05-12 | | pinoymaster77: GETS / BW,
What do we call our Men's team. Something relevant to chess sana...
Let the ideas come in, while we're inspired ! |

Sep-05-12 | | pinoymaster77: Olympiad site round 8 highlights :
'Elo doesn't really play a game in chess, as repeatedly proven by Philippines. The 35th-seed soundly beat the strong team of England by 3-1. Oliver Barbosa on the 2nd and legendary Eugenio Torre on the 3rd board defeated their respective opponents.' http://www.chessolympiadistanbul.co... |

Sep-06-12 | | spawn2: What do we call our Men's team. <bro pm77> We can call them the Avengers: ) GM Eugene "Iron Man" Torre
GM Wesley "Thor' So
GM Oliver "The Hulk" Barbosa
GM Mark "Captain America" Paragua
IM Oliver " Hawkeye" Dimakiling
Joke lang.
Go Pinas! |

Sep-06-12 | | pinoymaster77: If football has the Azkals & Malditas, and basketball has Gilas & Sinag, ano kaya sa ahedres? Di naman ata angkop ang Bakazakals ahehe, since trinabaho mga panalo and di bakasakali...something more befitting our team's efforts... |

Sep-06-12 | | pinoymaster77: I heard chess stories / history when GM Bong was here, and he shared it was the Philippines which 'introduced' the international game of chess to China (called PROC then), not sure if this was in the 70's or the 80's but definitely during the time of Campo. It was part of the 'sports diplomacy' then.
Maybe that was the time when China was
'slowly opening up to the world'. There was also a time of basketball diplomacy when a PROC team played a series of games here I think led by PBA players, and we used to beat them. Now back to the 2012 Chess Olympiad, is it turning full circle and Philippines is about to re-take its rightful place in Asian chess? I think back in the days when China was starting their ascent in chess, their top gun was GM Ye Rongguang (many tournament wars vs GMs Torre & Antonio) then) as we can see in those old Chess Asia editions... plus an active Chinese coach who also played in a Philippine tournament last year, together with his players... |

Sep-06-12 | | shadowleaf04: <pinoymaster77> <spawn2> Para sa akin, I would like to call the Men's Team the <FEARLESS FIVE>! Against China, its tough but it can be done. 2.5-1.5 win for Team Philippines! |

Sep-06-12 | | pinoymaster77: Ayos, phrase of the day :
'Elo doesn't really play a game of chess...', let that be on our mind for ALL the remaining matches! Rd9 'wars' - US vs Russia, Phils vs China, Armenia vs Germany, about 6 more hours before the battles! Hala sa Wes page, dami nang nag-forecast based on sentiments on a Pinoy sweep... |

Sep-06-12 | | geniokov: "If the Ship are sinking...Who starts to panic?...Younger people or Older people?"...That is the secret of an Older people why they can survive!=MATURITY AND WELL EXPERIENCED PLAYER is the main weapon of AFGM Torre! At sana ganito din ang approach nila Wesley,Oly Mark and Dimaks!...Chinese chessplayers are used to tactics because of their own version of "CHINESE CHESS" full of tactics! While in our country,we used "DAMA" which is full of strategies!Profesional Dama Players knew which position is strategically a won game! We have a strong feeling and know when to use our intuition at the right time. Philippines will win by 2.5-1.5 |

|
Sep-06-12 | | spawn2: Now, China's strategy is in full display for this round. They rested Hao so that Ding and Li will have the white pieces to attack Barbosa and Paragua. Hao and Bu to seek a peaceful resolution with Wes and Genius. Whether their strategy willl work..Sana Hindi! Laban Pinas! |
|
Sep-06-12 | | Jim Bartle: "They rested Hao so that Ding and Li will have the white pieces to attack Barbosa and Paragua." Except they had no idea they'd be playing the Philippines next. |

Sep-06-12 | | 321ycnay: Good evening, present ho... from Capitol Hills, Old Balara, Q.C.! Go team Pilipinas! |
|
Sep-06-12 | | mysql: Where's Iskubadayb? I need human analysis on the Torre vs. Bu game. I think Torre has a slight advantage in this endgame. |
