Oct-07-13 | | spawn2: <pm77>
No mention in the article whether Indonesian chess legend GM Utut Adianto will come out of retirement. Hope he plays just to increase the chances of an Asian bringing home the title. |
Oct-07-13 | | pinoymaster77: Right-o, we will know come tournament time na siguro by Wed/Thurs if Sen Utut will proceed with his comeback. Meantime, AFGM rightly skipped the blitz event to prepare for their trip tomorrow. Meantime, latebreaker is FM Paulo would be able to join the group, I think their sked is on Wed. |
Oct-08-13 | | pinoymaster77: Indonesian site news, Sen Utut is quoted but more on the Indonesian campaign and also the recent success in their Women Youth program with Medina Auria's garnering her final WGM norm...
(he didn't state categorically that he will play...)

Oct-09-13 | | pinoymaster77: In the meantime, while we're looking out for the tournament sked and maybe the rd1 pairings will be by tomorrow, here's a feature on the 5-star hotel venue... looks good, mukhang malaki talaga allotted budget nila... showing also Indonesia's steady progress... now hiring teachers for English... http://indonesiaopen.chessdom.com/2... |

Oct-09-13 | | bubuli55: Gudlak, Sir Eugene sa Indonesia Open. |
Oct-09-13 | | pinoymaster77: Meron na ngang entry sa chess-results.com, total of 9 GMs > 2600 rating and I count 38 GMs in the listed entries of 111 players so far. Host Indonesia understandably has the most entries with 43 while the 'little brown brothers' in the Pinoys number 15. Round 1 is around 3pm Indonesia time...
let the battles begin !

Oct-10-13 | | pinoymaster77: I hope the link can be opened here in CG. AFGM Eugene Torre was asked to speak during the opening ceremonies last night http://indonesiaopen.chessdom.com/2... |
Oct-10-13 | | lakers4sho: should be starting right now, but there's still nothing on chessbomb |
Oct-10-13 | | spawn2: 1st round was generally friendly for the Filipinos except for FM Pau and GM Mac's losses.
Hope there will be a reversal of fortunes for the two. Am also expecting to see some live games via Chessbomb. Yesterday was a disaster as far as the live games were concerned. |
Oct-10-13 | | spawn2: 2nd round opponent of GM Torre is FM Anton Smirnov of Australia. He is a 12 year old wonderkid toting an ELO of 2306. For e4 he replies with a Ruy Lopez set-up. No games in chessgames showing his defense against d4. |

Oct-16-13 | | spawn2: IOCC is winding down..last 2 rounds. Next stop is the Asian Cities in Tagaytay which will start on Sunday. |
Oct-17-13 | | pinoymaster77: There will be a lot of movements come the Oct ELO ratings by the first days of Nov publication by FIDE, as many of our locally-based GMs and IMs saw action in the BOGM, IOCC and now the Asian Cities set to start this Sun. |
Oct-26-13 | | spawn2: October is a good month for Philippines chess. This 26th of October, two Philippine champions emerged. Tagaytay team winning the Dubai Cup and GM Wesley So running away with the Unive tourney. Hope these two achievements will encourage the country's sports official to pay more attention to chess. |
Oct-26-13 | | lakers4sho: I didn't like their overall performance in the Indonesia Open, but oh well. |
Oct-27-13 | | bubuli55: < spawn2 >. Baka April makauwi ako. Sana kitakits uli ang BW :) |
Oct-27-13 | | spawn2: <bubuli55>
We will definitely organize a kitakits on your next visit: ) |
Oct-28-13 | | pinoymaster77: Letting the chess fans savor the 'latest triumphs' for a few days, not to steal the thunder but its true the BOGM is purely for locals, while in the Indonesia Open there were the Russian or former USSR and Indian players. Lower than top 25 the best placed Pinoys.
While sa recent Asian Cities eh pagka-pubish pa lang sa chess-results.com it was notable many countries didn't field their A teams, so the Tagaytay team with 4 young GMs had a good chance. More so, since GMs Gomez and Laylo was on bit of upswing, while GM Oli can hold his ground. Mac has been on a funk lately, pero those ups and downs happen to players. Hopefully by the time na 2014 Olympiad, they have already 'optimized' their forms. Still hoping some or most of them would be sent on a prolonged campaign in Europe to toughen up... |

Nov-03-13 | | Nf3em: kumusta mga kaibigan, Ok ba kayo riyan? |
