FIDE Master. In the early 1970s Jorgen Hvenekilde was one of the strongest players in Denmark. He repeatedly participated in national championships, his best result being 4th place in 1978. As part of the Danish team, he participated in the European team championship in 1970 and a number of other international team tournaments and matches. He regularly participated in annual Copenhagen international tournaments. In the 2000s he actively participated in veteran competitions, including in the world and European championships among veterans.

Feb-12-11  BLarsen1967: Hvenekilde tried his luck in Gibraltar this year,5 points out of 10 - as Black he played The Modern Defense: Pseudo-Austrian Attack (B06) vs La Stefanova in round 4. Of course he lost (if only he had played the Englund Gambit..)
