FIDE Master. In the early 1970s Jorgen Hvenekilde was one of the strongest players in Denmark. He repeatedly participated in national championships, his best result being 4th place in 1978. As part of the Danish team, he participated in the European team championship in 1970 and a number of other international team tournaments and matches. He regularly participated in annual Copenhagen international tournaments.
