Dec-15-09  Jim Bartle: Raisin Death Ray's writing style is not identical to Dredge Rivers'.
Dec-15-09  Raisin Death Ray: <Jim Bartle> How could they be identical? <Dredge Rivers> announced yesterday he would no longer be posting on this site!

He wouldn't lie about that, would he?

Dec-16-09  PinnedPiece: On Santa Claus page: <Due to the generosity of anonymous members, at least 20 premium accounts will be given away in this year's "Dear Santa" drawing. To this amount, Chessgames has donated three more, for a total of thirteen (23) free accounts.>

This CG.COM facility with math convinces me that the holiday clues are all going to be mathematically perfect!

.

Dec-17-09  technical draw: I invented the clues game. That's why I'm not allowed to win.
Dec-17-09  PinnedPiece: I hate it when Nako's beaming avatar doesn't grace the site. So everytime I find an answer, I send him the location--making sure he'll have it for a long while.

.

Dec-17-09  SamAtoms1980: In honor of the brief period of time last week when the whole community had admin power, CG.com will make December 9 the annual "Leet Haxxor Day".

Every year on Dec. 9th, at a randomly chosen time of day, everybody will have admin powers for 13 minutes and 37 seconds.

Dec-17-09  technical draw: I am the attorney representing Mrs. Tiger Woods in the divorce settlement. I will change my handle here from TD to "Po no mo"...
Dec-17-09  Jim Bartle: Quit distorting the truth, TD. She was already a millionaire, from her time as Parnevik's nanny, before she met Woods.
Dec-18-09  Red October: you mean stop distorting the lie....

Dec-18-09  weisyschwarz: I am starting a new blog, called "What has happened to the art of human conversation?" Feel free to contribute.
Dec-18-09  PinnedPiece: Astounding coincidence department:

I'm writing a new traditional medicines book with one chapter called "What has happened at the heart of cumin medication."

(!!!)

Dec-18-09  PinnedPiece: I score 92.1% on this chess quiz:

HeMateMe: I got 65%. Surprised me, the questions didn't really seem that difficult. I liked this one:

Q.18) In "Smart Chip from St. Petersburg", Genna Sosonko states that Genrikh Chepukaitis participated in all kinds of games, including 'shmen'. 'Shmen' is: A. A variant of chess in which you get to punch your opponent in the face if his piece is captured B. A variant of chess in which players must drink a shot of vodka after every capture C. Another name for checkers
D. Another name for backgammon
E. A game in which the winner is the one who guesses the correct number of a large batch of banknotes in a clenched fist

I thought the answer was backgammon; it must be checkers

Joshka: I guessed the "shot of vodka"...
Dec-18-09  weisyschwarz: I thought for sure it was checkers.
Dec-18-09  SamAtoms1980: I got 59%. I guessed the "punchface" .... probably wrong, but sounds like fun.... for frat boys....

HeMateMe: Backgammon jumped out at me because 1) Lasker wrote on bg as well as chess, and checkers. Apparently he was master at many boards. If there were GO players in Germany, I'm sure he'd have been a champ at that, too.

2) I've read that Boris Spassky's sister is a "world class droughts player". I think droughts is the russian variant of backgammon. So, in addition to cards, some of the GMs play BG. Roman Dishinachvilli used to play it for stakes in the american casinos.

Wish, too, the answers were there. They are probably afrad some rival site will steal their game! Was there really a guy "so good he was called world champion."? No one regularly beat Lasker and Capa, I assumed that was the none of the above Q.

Was alekhine in the VM club? He is the one i excluded.

Dec-19-09  technical draw: I invented the word "non-plussed". But i can't figure out why it's not used more often.
Dec-19-09  Jim Bartle: TD, was it you who thought the word "regardless" just didn't pack enough punch, and famously added the "ir-" at the beginning?
Dec-19-09  technical draw: <JB> < TD, was it you who thought the word "regardless" just didn't pack enough punch, and famously added the "ir-" at the beginning?>

No. I subtracted the "In" from inflammable because flammable makes more sense.

Dec-19-09  Jim Bartle: "2) I've read that Boris Spassky's sister is a "world class droughts player". I think droughts is the russian variant of backgammon."

All the best droughts players come from northern Africa or the north coast of Chile.

Dec-19-09  Red October: < Raisin Death Ray: <Jim Bartle> How could they be identical? <Dredge Rivers> announced yesterday he would no longer be posting on this site! He wouldn't lie about that, would he?> especially with Santa watching..
