Verica (Vera) Nedeljkovic (née Jovanovic) was born in Cacak, Yugoslavia. Awarded the WIM title in 1954 and the WGM title in 1977, she has been Yugoslav Women's Champion on six occasions - 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953 (as Jovanovic), 1958 and 1965 (as Nedeljkovic). She was the wife of Srecko Nedeljkovic.

WGM Verica Nedeljkovic was second on World Chess Championship Candidates Tournament in Plovdiv 1959, her husband Srecko, a well known cardiologist, was the trainer of the Yugoslav national team at the Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik 1950 (Gold medal!), and their son Milos, President of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Belgrade University, is a keen chess enthusiast.
