He had an addictive/adverse reaction to a drug treatment. My guess is, the "solution" was illegal in the US, and he went to Russia/Serbia for "treatment." |

| Aug-01-20 | | Big Pawn: <Tpstar>, well said and I agree with your suggestion. <I propose a two week moratorium where the cool kids make no mention of him, not even his handle, on the Kenneth Rogoff page. > Yep, but I don't really have any reason to post on the rogoff page if it's going to be PC. If the women running <chessgames.com> are going to coddle that troll, then it's simply not interesting to post on rogoff anymore. Besides, if the Elite Posters will post here instead, then anything of interest will be on this page anyhow. |

There's something wrong with him. He's like Posoo or <Jiffy>. Something isn't right, but I don't see his mindless babble anymore because he's on my ignore list. <Anyway, I still like to chat with intelligent people on this forum, such as yourself and the other Elite Posters, so apart from kibitzing on various chess games from time to time, I'll pop into the various forums for smart and thoughtful conversation.> The forum is wide open, so feel free to post whatever. The only rule is, there is no Political Correctness allowed in this forum. Consider this forum a "safe space" for me, where we don't have to abide by the ladies' tea party rules of etiquette. | Aug-01-20 | | Big Pawn: < thegoodanarchist: what rough times? What events? Can I get the executive summary?>
First I want to thank <Diceman> for sharing that info. It was very interesting. Short video only about 11 minutes. <tga>, Jordan Peterson turned to drugs (prescribed) because he couldn't handle his anxiety. His wife was told she was going to die and Peterson cracked. The drugs only made things worse and then he got addicted to them and had complications trying to get off of them. Jordan Peterson is very interesting and I've posted his stuff here before. He's also an atheist by the way. Such people are never wrapped to tight. Plus, he's a psychologist and as a person interested in psychology, he is all wrapped up in his feelings. Anyone who is wrapped up in his feelings is a slave to them, and he is a slave to his. All of his intellectual know how, all of this studying, all of his good advice went out the window when it came to him dealing with his own adversity. Again, he doesn't know God and he's into his feelings. A sure recipe for disaster! You've got to be crazy to take drugs to deal with your anxiety. When hard times come, you've got to know that God is in control and not overreact. You've got to stay out of your feelings too, lest they rule your life. A man is supposed to be in touch with his logical side more than his feelings - lest you end up like Jordan. Jordan Peterson is a sad warning. |

| Aug-01-20 | | Big Pawn: <optimal play: He has taken over the Rogoff forum, a place I will no longer frequent, and is carrying on like a crazy man.> Yes, agreed.
I don't see his posts, but I can tell he's trying to ruin the forum for everyone else, and now the women running <CG> are letting it be that way. No big deal.
I will only post here from now on. <Mort> will eventually find his way to this forum. The important thing is, we can all still find things to debate about even amongst ourselves. Not to mention <Tabanus> has unfinished business with me in this forum. We had a moral argument debate here, before he went running away with his tail between his legs. I actually get some good posters in my forum that only show up once in a great while, but when they do, they post seriously, substantively and with much insight. |

I wonder if that was the reason for our comments being eradicated? The fact that we made disparaging comments about feminism? If I recall, you repeatedly had a post deleted about the difference between men and women posting comments and how they reacted differently. Are women and male feminists running chessgames now? That might explain why the latest nuisance is being indulged. He's very emotional and perhaps that resonates with the current admins? Anyway, hopefully the real men can have this one place where we can all just be regular blokes without having to worry about hurting some lefty's delicate feelings? |

 | | tpstar: <optimal play> I love the discussions on ideas and events. I dislike the protracted bashing sessions talking about people - not just political figures or celebrities, but other users. Certain pundits make every post into a personal attack against someone else, hoping to earn points on the imaginary social media scoreboard. You know I mean. <diceman> I watched your executive summary without seeing the original interview. Benzodiazepine tranquilizers can be very effective in treatment, except they do induce their own tolerance (higher doses) and dependence (can't do without) which can lead to severe problems. I learned in medical school that benzodiazepines are "booze in pill form" as they can have pronounced interactions with alcohol. When someone solicits five medical consults, then goes out of the country anyway, that suggests an unhappy patient/family frustrated with "the system" in the US. That's great how he was successfully treated and recovered, yet the patient bears some responsibility for ending up in their situation. One factor not mentioned was emotional dependence on medication ("I need my Methadone") which is hard to predict or quantify. <The forum is wide open, so feel free to post whatever. The only rule is, there is no Political Correctness allowed in this forum. Consider this forum a "safe space" for me, where we don't have to abide by the ladies' tea party rules of etiquette.> I am leery to post here since my "five posters" entry when you returned was deleted. I presumed you didn't remove it, so a Moderator did, and the last thing you need is special treatment in the form of oversight. =) |

| Aug-01-20 | | optimal play: <diceman: <optimal play: Excellent analysis Tony! My interaction with AJ was limited. I found him okay although somewhat touchy.> I had no problem with him. Sure, I once tried to tell him something about chess and he wouldn't listen, but so what? I think the reason most libs didn't like him is he made references to God. He'd say things like "Bless my son" or "Bless my children." As I understand it, his wife died of cancer, and he was raising his kids as a single parent. Unlike most players here, he was showing his games from recent events, and displaying crosstables, so there was no reason to doubt his chess abilities. Just don't tell him you found a better move. :)> Yep, I'm not sure what specific problems Tony had with AJ, but I always found him okay, although he definitely did not like being contradicted. I was sorry to see him go, but after chessgames disabled all his games (they're still closed btw) I wasn't surprised he left. Maybe if chessgames opened up AJ's games he might return, but then that's probably the reason why they *won't* re-open them! 😂 |

| Aug-01-20 | | Big Pawn: <optimal play: Are women and male feminists running chessgames now? That might explain why the latest nuisance is being indulged. He's very emotional and perhaps that resonates with the current admins?> Yes, that's pretty much the deal. A certain cry baby troll can manipulate the women <admins> at CG with emotional pleas and by emotionally carrying on. It works every time. In general, women are open to manipulation like that. It's just how they're wired. I will no longer waste my talent and my value on the other page. I'll just post what I find interesting, provocative and insightful here on this page. What is a shame though is that some of our fellow posters are sadly feeding the trolls at <rogoff>. It's very sad, but that's their choice. What can we do about that? Nothing at all. That's how life is I guess. But I do say, I repeat, it is very sad indeed. Their posts are not valued or understood by the <rogoff> trolls. <Gezafan> and <Mort> are like fish on the ends of their hooks. A shame really. They should share their posts where the readers are intelligent enough to appreciate them. By the way, <optimal play>, you didn't really get the chance to give your review of Brave New World. You only mentioned you read it. |

One of the worst, if not THE worst, was a certain fellow who played poker. He made absolutely NO contribution to debate or discussion whatsoever. It was just post after post after post of the most vile disgusting innuendo. Every one of his posts was without merit or value. I'm not going back to that sewer. |

They shut down his games for kibitzing after dealing with those problems for years, then he was the main figurehead in The Seven as one against six: Kibitzer's Café (kibitz #112798) He stopped posting in 2014 (although he still lurks) stating he wouldn't support this "anti-Semitic" site. The Administrator who spilled the beans on his e-mail also found a known combination that AJG falsely claimed to be his. He was always promoting himself, rather than chess or the site. <Yes, the moderators have deleted posts in this forum. They even deleted the content written in my bio.
Whatever - not the end of the world, right?> My theory is that a specific Administrator removed my post in an effort to prevent the new owner from learning the truth about this site (revisionist history, false narratives, repeat offenders & special treatment) and instead presenting a shiny happy version. They read the same things I do in the Harry Café without taking action, yet remove my post which didn't break any rules, proving my point about double standards. Besides, who remembers such things?! =) |

| Aug-01-20 | | optimal play: I found Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" interesting, if a little anachronistic. By that I mean, he was writing in the 1920's for a period he envisioned about 500 years in the future, but in 2020 a lot of the forecast scenario seems already outdated. Having said that, I liked it overall.
I get how it can be a warning against the type of society we may be sliding into today. The concept of an elite few controlling society by way of the total brainwashing of each individual has signs of what may be happening today. Instead of each individual being designed in an incubator to predetermine their life, we have the mainstream media, multi-national corporations and the deep state programming everybody, beginning with the school system, then onto the higher education university system, and continuing in society generally. Prescription drugs are the soma people use as a crutch to get through life, while the mantra "everyone for everyone else" prefigures the breakdown of the family unit as the basis of western civilisation. The two protagonists, Bernard and John the Savage, are alike, although at opposite ends of the spectrum. Both are programmed by their own society, and although they are each misfits, can neither break free of their inculturation nor move into a more moderate fulfilling life. It's bizarre how religion still exists, but in a perverted manner, whereby they all worship Henry Ford. Of course it is only religion in name only, being utterly souless and without any depth. Like 1984, but in a different way, it stands as a warning against totalitarianism, but rather "soft" totalitarianism, as distinct from the "hard" totalitarianism of 1984. It stayed with me for a while after I read it which is a sign of a good book. I can see why it's still read 90 years after it was published. Thanks for the recommendation. |

I was around then but obviously didn't take much notice of what was going on. <He stopped posting in 2014 (although he still lurks) stating he wouldn't support this "anti-Semitic" site.> I remember that.
At that point he seemed to have lost the plot.
Of those seven only Mort still posts.
I wonder if enough time has passed for AJ's games to be re-opened? |

I would just delete his complaining messages and get on with the important business of improving this site, uploading games and modernising the web page. You know, important stuff to improve the business. <I will no longer waste my talent and my value on the other page. | Aug-01-20 | | TheFocus: <Big Pawn> As some of you may have noticed, I have not been posting regularly on this site for a while (mostly due to health issues, but also a general disgust as to the state that that the site has devolved into since Daniel's death), but I do drop in occasionally and today I logged in to see that you have turned your space into a place for the true intellects to come and post. Fantastic! The <Retard> page is a home for trolls that contribute absolutely nothing of value to the site, nor to chess in general. The <Retard> page has turned into a sewer not fit for any decent members to tread, so thank you for opening up your Forum in this way. I may even be tempted now to post without having to put up with the trolls and the dregs of the site. The Admins are a joke and their amateurish ways have made this site a laughing stock in the chess community. <health issues> I am in much better shape now and have even returned to the working force. I am much stronger now than a year ago. 18 months was a long recovery but I am back to full capacity. For those who may have prayed for me or just sent well wishes and positive thoughts, I thank you. I appreciate them very much. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <tps: They read the same things I do in the Harry Café without taking action, yet remove my post which didn't break any rules, proving my point about double standards.> Yep. Annie won't enforce Daniel's rules about creating sock puppet accounts to avoid posting restrictions. When I challenged her on it, she told me he'd just create more sock puppet accounts.
Ummmm...WHAT!? Then I see Susan Freeman encouraging Harry in his obnoxiousness...it's unbelievable. Why do they think so many people have Harry on ignore? Why do they think so many high profile members bring it up? Why do they think so many high profile members point to the Cafe as a place newbies SHOULD feel welcome and be responded to? Why do they think so many high profile members express concerns about the business impact? None of those opinions matter, apparently. Meanwhile, the members watch as the site's worst advertisement gets special treatment. She pandered to the criminal to an embarrassing degree. Overall, she's been great for the site, but her wildly inconsistent enforcement of the rules is a real negative. |

| Aug-01-20 | | optimal play: <TheFocus> I was not aware you had health issues. I was away from this site for about 15 months until a few months ago, and prior to allowing my premium membership to lapse, I too had become disappointed in the deterioration of this site following Daniel's untimely passing. Anyway, upon my return, I noticed a few people missing, yourself being a notable absence. So first let me say how pleased I am that you are in much better health. Secondly, it's great to see you posting here. I always considered you to be one of the most interesting posters at chessgames and a stalwart of this site. Third, your assessment of the Admins is shared by many long-time members. If I thought they were bad 15 months ago, I couldn't begin to tell you what I think of their "stewardship" of the site now. And fourth, the Rogoff page has deteriorated beyond recovery. BP has generously allowed his forum as a refuge for intelligent, thoughtful posters who have climbed out of the Rogoff sewer. Anyway Focus, great to see you here and great to know you are now in good health. |
|
| Aug-01-20 | | optimal play: <OhioChessFan> AJ and Harry are both obnoxious, but there are worse personal characteristics than obnoxiousness. Just have a look at some of those posting on Rogoff to see some *really* bad behavioural traits. <Annie won't enforce Daniel's rules about ...> <Then I see Susan Freeman encouraging ...> So the women *are* in charge!? |

I once had a chess player stalk me because I played the French. He'd ask a dumb/stupid question, as soon I answered, he'd pivot to another dumb/stupid question. When I realized I
was being saffuna'ed I started answering, "You'll see if we play." About a year and a half into it, we were finally paired together in a tournament.
I won, he disappeared. |

Overall, the atmosphere is much better without AJ, and without Mark, and without Joerg, and without John, and without Brian, and without Ulf, and without Hans. But it does make you wonder why they put up with repeat offenders for so many years. <I will no longer waste my talent and my value on the other page. I'll just post what I find interesting, provocative and insightful here on this page.> The overriding irony is that people make such dramatic proposals to "fix" the Rogoff page, which invariably involve censoring or disciplining <Big Pawn> over his content, while ignoring the avalanche of personal attacks on that page, sometimes by certain pundits in every post. I believe Daniel suffered a substantial loss with the death of Alberto A Artidiello in 2015, to where he threw himself into his work on this site, while also treating the rulebreaking troublemaking career criminal as a pet project of sorts. (It didn't help when his friends strangely characterized him as "one of the good guys" here.) For example, the archiving project was one means to improve site speed, while also a <Sneaky> endeavor to eliminate problematic entries, like the death threat against John and the "gone in six months" business for me and <Keyser>. I have the sequence of his fifteen handles since 2010 in my chessforum, although I must be missing a few. Our goal as veterans should be to make things better and not worse, however that is possible. <TheFocus> Best wishes for your continued improvement. =) |
