I have never discussed politics with her, so it caught me by surprise. I told her most Democrats think it's okay to lie if it wins an election. Then I gave her a quick lesson on cognitive dissonance. She said, "That makes sense", and seemed satisfied with the answer. |

| Aug-29-20 | | Everett: <TGA> Read the article you linked. I roughly agree with the right to create all that was written from point 5 through point 2. On a small scale, libertarian thinking is fully supportive for villages/towns/counties of like-minded people to create laws and rules as they see fit. I believe the Constitution allows for this, and in fact promotes it. Regarding the 2nd Amendment, bearing arms and all that: “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed“ In your opinion, Why was the phrase “well regulated Militia” included in the text of the 2nd Amendment? 1 (new country, secession) is possible only if all the people in the lands are in agreement. Otherwise, how can it ethically be forced? |

| Aug-29-20 | | thegoodanarchist: < Everett: <TGA> Read the article you linked.... Regarding the 2nd Amendment, bearing arms and all that: “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed“ In your opinion, Why was the phrase “well regulated Militia” included in the text of the 2nd Amendment?> Well, there is no short answer that will suffice. So this will be a long post. State militias were all the able-bodied adult (white) males of the states. We have to keep in mind that people viewed their states much differently back when the constitution was written, even all the way through the Civil War and beyond. People were for the most part loyal to their states above all else, and this loyalty was passed on generation to generation. Which is why so many regular army officers went over to the Confederacy. Robert E Lee couldn't bear to take arms against <Virginia>, his home state. But he do so against the USA. The 13 colonies were basically 13 independent countries after winning the Revolution, and initially were only loosley bound by the Articles of Confederation. And that was the mindset up to the Civil War. When Lincoln got elected, the thinking at the time by many was that states had the right to leave the union. And it wasn't just people in the Confederate states. Many northerners were opposed to stopping secession. If you contemplate this information, understand its meanings, and keep in mind that states' rights really were a BIG reason for the Civil War, you can understand that mindsets were totally different than they are today. What really helped my understanding was a quote from the wikipedia article about President Franklin Pierce: <Like all white males in New Hampshire between the ages of 18 and 45, Pierce was a member of the state militia>. Why? I think it was the same reason the USA historically had a tiny standing army in times of peace. (The giant peace-time military-industrial complex that you've known all your life only came about at the end of WW2.) Firstly, the American revolutionaries were suspicious of large national standing armies, for good reason. It's why we have an amendment prohibiting quartering of soldiers in peoples' homes. Secondly, and more importantly, no other nation was an existential threat to the young USA. So the state militias were for what? They were for protecting the several states against an oppressive federal government. Because loyalty went like this: Home state first, federal government second. The federal government was very small to keep it from being tyrannical, and the state militias were needed in case it became tyrannical anyway. <1 (new country, secession) is possible only if all the people in the lands are in agreement. Otherwise, how can it ethically be forced?> Not so. There were many crown loyalists in the 13 colonies before and during the American Revolution. By some estimates, about 1/3 of the population were loyal to the king of England. Yet here we are, independent for a quarter of a millennium. And this is true of just about every country that ever came to exist. Maybe Japan is the exception. So unless you think every country is unethical, secession is not unethical. |

Life Is Fair
Life is good>
I haven't checked the Other Page in a while. The libs stopped fighting back and gave up, so I got bored walking over the rubble that I am responsible for. They simply gave up. They literally won't engage in a serious debate anymore and resort only to trolling. That is their way of hoisting up the white flag. They don't want anymore. They admit defeat. Not only that, but with the <chessgames.com admins> coddling <NOZZLE> and allowing him to dictate matters, there's just no appeal to posting there anymore for any reason. Regarding Trump, I hadn't seen these poll results until you share them here. I checked his twitter and it's stuffed top to bottom with poll results. I don't trust the polls one way or the other, but it's looking incredibly good for Trump at this point as compared to 2016. Nobody likes the libs anymore because they are killing people in the streets, attacking regular folks, going in restaurants to intimidate and <BULLY> women and children into raising their closed fist and shouting Seig Heil! And when the women and children refuse to say Seig Heil, they threaten them with violence. Nobody likes the libs anymore because they are destroying businesses owned by the regular folks. The liberal mayors, like Ted Wheeler in Portland, have blood on their hands. Remember the Italian ship captain that got drunk and allowed his ship to crash or sink in the Mediterranean some 10 years ago? He faced serious jail time, but look at the dereliction of duty to be pinned on the mayor of Portland! This guy is directly responsible for all the deaths that happen during this criminal, seditious, riotous frenzy that he is shielding from the law and allowing to take place. In fact, mayor Ted Wheeler is leading the way, acting as gatekeeper for the thugs who kill Americans and commit acts of mob political violence on the streets. This guy is keeping the police from protecting the citizens. And just think about all the gun panzy idiots out there who say, "YOU DON'T NEEEEEEEEED A GUN!!! YOU GUN NUT!!! JUST CALL THE POLICE!! THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE TRAINED TO DO!! GUN NUT!!" Yeah, go call the police in Portland over the last 100 days. You'll be dead, just like that 17 year old kid in Kenosha who was attacked and chased by a mob of liberal criminals, who were armed and threatened his life, and he had to shoot in self defense. If he wasn't armed, he'd be dead. Look at Rand Paul. If he wasn't lucky enough to have a cop right nearby (how often is that?) he'd be dead too and so would his wife. Luckily our founding fathers were not feminized gun pussies brainwashed by their mothers and the other girls in charge of their pansy governments that turn gun carrying men into tea drinking <vulnerable> girly men. The second amendment was written for times exactly like these, although we don't get our rights from the constitution. We get our rights from God and the constitution just acknowledges that and sets into law that our God given rights shall not be infringed. Now is the time to make sure you have a gun and be ready to shoot the libs should they come to your town and threaten you, like they did in Kenosha. One <MUST> defend himself, his family, his property and his country. |
|
| Aug-30-20 | | Big Pawn: Notice also how Nancy Pelosi is already sending messages to the criminal, treasonous thugs in the street. She's saying to be ready to have civil unrest when Biden loses the election. Hillary told Biden not to concede defeat no matter what. That's what this mail in voting is all about. The libs want to be able to say that the election was rigged in case they lose. |

| Aug-30-20 | | Everett: <TGA> thank you for your response, especially re: militias. So if the militias were an integral part of the reasoning behind the 2nd Amendment, are you arguing that it is an organized group right, yet potentially not an individual right if they are not a member of a well-regulated state militia? |

I'm not asking for details.
But you're here expounding the proposition that all Americans "have a gun and be ready to shoot the libs should they come to your town and threaten you". I don't think it's inappropriate therefore to enquire as to whether you have actually shot someone. I don't think it would be easy to shoot someone, and if you're warning people to be ready to shoot someone then it's a perfectly logical question to ask if you yourself have ever shot anyone? So ... have you ever shot anyone? |
