Jul-27-17  thegoodanarchist: <BP> Looks like at least one of my posts were deleted, with no explanation.

<Nisjesram> pointed out that <Unfortunately, it has been deleted and I wonder why.>

You can see his comment here:

thegoodanarchist chessforum (kibitz #323)

I wonder why too. Usually, moderation is accompanied by an explanation. Care to comment?

Jul-27-17  thegoodanarchist: A question for the moderator:

<OP> asked a question:

< optimal play: ...

<thegoodanarchist: ... the <JFQ> forum debate ...>

What's this infamous <<JFQ> forum debate> between you two about?

When did it happen? I might go back and read it.>

I posted an answer, which was deleted.

OK, your forum. If you viewed the post to be in violation of your forum rules, so be it.

But since my deleted post was specifically an answer to <OP>'s question, shouldn't you at least point that out?

I mean, your explanation here is rather vague:

Big Pawn chessforum (kibitz #2111)

I try not to be rude, but I cannot help but think <OP> might assume I was ignoring him.

And I don't want to leave the issue in doubt like that.

So I don't think it is too much to expect that the moderator would point out: one of the deleted posts was in answer to a sincere question.

Jul-27-17  Big Pawn: <I try not to be rude, but I cannot help but think <OP> might assume I was ignoring him.>

I guess. I want to keep this page focused, and the history of some debate on <jfq> forum is not top flight, textbook example of elite posting. All of you guys' other posts were on the mark and they are all there.

Sometimes being the moderator is tough! And yes, I did see that Nizzle was at your forum trying to lure you.

You and <ocf> had a good topic going. Then you guys shifted from that interesting, elite, topic to who call who a liar, who is on ignore, who argued on <jfq> forum and so on. That's the stuff I'm deleting. <op> asked about that stuff, so I deleted that too.

It's okay in a debate to point out that someone lied. It's okay for them to deny it and argue the point.

After that is over, which is was, it's not okay to keep going on. This is not about casual posting, or any kind of posting that does not address some enlightened, substantive topic and offer some insight, or provide simple and clear clarification for some other insight that was lost on the reader.

If you and <op> want to discuss the history of your debates at <jfq> page, then it's best to do that elsewhere.

I want this page to be open and free of clutter, so that everyone's thoughts on the *issues* remain without distraction.

Jul-27-17  Big Pawn: <<thegoodanarchist: ... the <JFQ> forum debate ...>

What's this infamous <<JFQ> forum debate> between you two about?

See that?

That is casual talk. That is gossip. That is not what this page is about.

Imagine if someone comes to this forum and they read at the top, "This forum is for people seeking elevated and enlightened debate and discussion" and then they read that.

Imagine now that the whole page from top to bottom is that stuff. Then imagine they have to scroll back or forward to see what the *real* debates and discussion threads were about.

That's what I'm going to prevent. Just like when <Nizzle> or <boogieman> comes here and makes a similar comment about about something that someone said somewhere on another thread and who said what and who is a liar and who is on ignore and on and on...I can't have that here.

I will delete their posts, and I have, when they come here and do that, so, I also have to keep it clean on the other side of the board with the posters I like as well.

This forum will be for *elevated* discussion, *insightful* posting, shared discussion of *valuable discernment* and free of boring, tedious, personal grievance.

It's a new forum, give it time to form into the right shape.

Jul-27-17  thegoodanarchist: < Big Pawn: <I try not to be rude, but I cannot help but think <OP> might assume I was ignoring him.>

I'm not saying it was. But it was top flight humor. (I can do top flight humor too).

And the reason I say that is because I was wondering about some of the following ideas:

posting recipes?

You've done so in the past. I think even on Rogoff when it got slow there.

Is recipe posting/cooking going to be off topic here now?

Posting music links. Is that going to be off topic?

I mean, I can agree that you don't want to make this kibitzer cafe 2.0. That would be a waste.

So will you delete all posts with links to music videos? Sounds harsh, but could actually be the best route.

Look, I am not expecting you to have every permutation thought out in advance. However, these questions will come up, so maybe it is a good opportunity to get ahead of the obvious ones.

Jul-28-17  Big Pawn: <I'm not saying it was. But it was top flight humor. (I can do top flight humor too).

Is recipe posting/cooking going to be off topic here now?>

LOL! Well, I think it should be off topic, if, we want to come together as a group and focus on enlightened discussion etc...

(I did try Abby's Arabian Spinach tho, and I make it frequently now. It's good!)

<Posting music links. Is that going to be off topic?>

Mostly, yes. I say mostly because music CAN be a subject worthy of enlightened discussion, for sure, but I don't want mindless blue links in here like the <kc>. I hope if something musical is posted it can be tied into something larger, analogously, or to a larger social trend in a sociological context, or with music theory analysis. It should offer real insight; something new! Something you won't hear anywhere else. Something deep about it - not just posting links.

Good questions!

If you can come up with more questions it will help me sort out the guidelines.

In broad terms, I'm looking to create a forum where the very smart people can be smart, are surrounded by other smart people, come here with their thinking caps on, and find themselves inspired to comment in top form.

I also want to keep the dregs of the site out as they spoil the fun and do not appreciate sophistication, insight, discernment and elevated discourse.

Finally, anyone that comes to this page should be able to read things that are very interesting and *unlike* the rest of the site.

tpstar: <The gay marriage agenda has nothing at all to do with rights. It's just framed that way to make it seem unassailable.> Liberals spent a great deal of time on this, creating the new term <marriage equality> to command our assent. Thus the presumed "right to marry" was introduced by court cases over the last thirty years to where it could gain widespread acceptance under President Obama. The Far Left also invented <income inequality> to blame the 1% for all of their problems, even though that truly is Capitalism by definition. Socialist ideas look great on paper, then never work in practice.

Same sex marriage does not affect me, although I understand why others are bothered to the core. As a small business owner, I am far more concerned with bakers of all religions being forced to prepare gay wedding cakes catering (ha ha) to this agenda. Now if I baked cakes for a living, I would make whatever the customer wanted without a second thought, provided it did not get me in trouble for violating decency codes. Yet the LGBTQ forced this issue through under the authoritarianism of Big Government: bake this cake or we will shut down your business. This was bound to cause backlash and they know it.

<de facto marriages> The US has common-law marriages where a man and woman cohabitate for a set length of time, then may be considered husband and wife for tax purposes. As you may have guessed, this is a states issue and still remains in eight states plus the District of Columbia.

Over here the middle class lefties (socialists) hates government and the police as well and go full hysterical when police kills someone in confront with drug dealers. But when the drug dealers kills alone, not a word.. I can relate to what is going on over there.

Jul-28-17  Big Pawn: It was reported earlier that a "man" had gone on a knife attack in a supermarket in Hamburg. A "man" they said, on the news.

A "man".

http://abcnews.go.com/International...

<1 dead, 6 wounded after knife attack at German supermarket>

< A man armed with a kitchen knife fatally stabbed one person at a supermarket Friday in the northern German city of Hamburg and six others were wounded as he fled, police said. He was overpowered and arrested.

The assailant entered the supermarket in the Barmbek district on Friday afternoon and stabbed one man, who died at the scene. Police said the victim is believed to be a 50-year-old German.

After the assailant fled and wounded five others with the knife — a woman and four men — he was overwhelmed by passers-by and slightly injured in the process, police said. Officers then arrested him. A sixth man was injured while overpowering the attacker.

The wounded people, some of whom were seriously hurt, were taken to hospitals, authorities said.>

A "man".

This is how the story has been reported all morning and afternoon. Now we learn that he shouted "Allahu Akbar!!!!" as he started stabbing people.

Oh!

Whenever you hear "a man" has done something, you know it ain't a white Christian man.

Notice they never shout, "JESUS SAVES!" when they are stabbing people?

Never.

What we have here is more evidence that diversity is a source of friction. Multiculturalism doesn't work.

Sames with the sames, differents with the differents.

Jul-29-17  Big Pawn: AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT HAS BANNED CHILDREN FROM TALKING ABOUT JESUS CHRIST.

https://www.facebook.com/TrueBiblic...

<optimal play>, you must have a comment about this.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/blogs/a...

Here's a link from theaustralian:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/nat...

<Jesus unwelcome in schoolyard crackdown>

This is what the left is doing - and by the way, it's not the "extreme" left. It's just the left, and if you're on the left, you're on the wrong side. Period.

<Talking about Jesus, exchanging Christmas cards and encouraging Christianity have been targeted under an unofficial policy from education bureaucrats that takes aim at junior evangelists in Queensland primary school yards.

Queensland education officials have moved to ban references to Jesus in the primary school yard, with an unofficial policy that takes aim at junior evangelists.

Christian groups and free-speech advocates have expressed alarm at the recent edict from the Queensland Department of Education and Training contained within its latest review into religious instruction materials and warning that principals were expected to take action against students caught evangelising to their peers.

“While not explicitly prohibited by the (legislation), nor referenced in the Religious Instruction (RI) policy, the department expects schools to take appropriate action if aware that students participating in RI are evangelising to students who do not,” says the department’s report into the GodSpace religious instruction materials, released earlier this year.>

And you think I'm spouting hyperbole when I say that the left, liberalism, is attacking Christianity? This is just another prong in the attack, which also includes forcing the Christian culture to accept and condone homosexuality.

Okay, bury your head in the sand and say, "that's only the extreme left".

<Departmental policy defines “evangelising” as “preaching or advocating a cause or religion with the object of making converts to Christianity”.

Examples of evangelising cited in the review, as well as two earlier reviews into religious instruction providers, include sharing Christmas cards that refer to Jesus’s birth, creating Christmas tree decorations to give away and making beaded bracelets to give to friends “as a way of sharing the good news about Jesus”.>

The left is NOT going to tolerate sharing of friend-beads as a way of sharing the good news about Christ.

Understand this: when they say diversity, when they say multiculturalism, what they mean is less white Christian men.

Diversity = less Christianity
Multiculturalism = diversity

You see, the liberals preach tolerance, but what they *really* mean is for Christians to tolerate an anti-Christian society as it builds and prepares to take over completely. They *don't* mean they want tolerance for you!

I know, I know, it's only the *extreme* left. Sure. Keep telling yourself that and keep believing the lie.

<“I don’t think people are on the whole affronted by the handing out of Christmas cards,” he said.

“And I don’t think that children have the maturity to comprehend let alone evangelise.”>

Oh, those darned CHRISTMAS CARDS! Well, one thing I like about Trump is that he thinks this is all MADNESS! He came right out and said, "What is this? You can't say merry Christmas anymore? Why are they trying to hide Christmas? I'll tell you what, from now on we're saying MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

Trump recently tweeted that this country worships God, not the government.

Let those with eyes see. Let those with ears hear. Let those with understanding, understand.

Jul-30-17  Big Pawn: <PhilFeeley: <Not coincidence they build your incredible country.>

Read some Chomsky so you can learn how to hate a great country. Chomsky is not consistent and he's just got a bone to pick with America. It's a liberal thing. He openly supported Chavez and that Sandinistas and he's an anti-capitalist. Like most libs, he supports the Palestinian terrorists over Israel.

<Mort> is always here parroting his stuff about international law too.

Don't let <Noam> fool you into thinking America isn't an incredible country.

Jul-30-17  Big Pawn: Diversity Is a Weapon Against White People

https://redice.tv/red-ice-tv/divers...

Excellent video (by a fine looking blonde I might add).

Diversity is indeed a weapon against white people, and Christians. Diversity means:

<the inclusion of individuals representing more than one national origin, color, religion, socioeconomic stratum, sexual orientation> dictionary.com

Color = not white
Religion = not Christian
socioeconomic stratum = third world people
sexual orientation = pervert, drag queens etc...

There is a worldwide movement against Christianity. Since Christianity is viewed as the white man's religion, white people are under attack, especially the men, because if you can subdue the men then you've won. The men are being taught, by liberalism, that being manly is bad, to be masculine is bad.

Just look at how pathetic most men are today. They get their "feelings" hurt, they feel "vulnerable", they whisper in a very ladylike, soft spoken way, so as not to appear toxically masculine. Yes, getting the white man out of the way is very important if you want to fight against Christianity.

Why is it that only white countries in Europe, including America an Australia, are targets for third world flooding? Because that's where the Christians are. If they can be flooded with brown people from the third world, who have babies 5 to 1 on white people, in a generation or two, there will be no more strong countries that are also Christian.

That would mean that Christian values would no longer find expression in the laws, traditions and culture of these countries.

Now, some people think it's <THOSE DAMNED JOOS!> that are doing all of this, but then again, if these same people find a fly in their soup, they think a Jew put it there. Jews come in all different sizes, so to speak, but liberalism is always liberalism, regardless of your ethnicity.

Why is liberalism trying to destroy Christianity? Why is it trying to bludgeon it to death with diversity? Notice how every evil tool of the left is framed as an instrument of "equality"? And most of the low IQ people of the world are 100% fooled by that and find it impossible to fight against ideas like diversity without being called a RACIST or BIGOT or some other powerless word.

Great video by Lana Lokteff!

Jul-30-17  Big Pawn: Trump Becomes Lincoln As New Civil War To Free America From Slavery Begins

http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index...

<An astonishing new Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) report circulating in the Kremlin today (reading as if it was written in 1860 instead of 2017) reveals that America’s Republican Party President Donald Trump has engaged in full assault upon his nation’s Democratic Party “slave masters” that echoes what that countries first Republican Party President Abraham Lincoln did in the mid 19th Century—where Lincoln, just like Trump today, had to battle these Democratic Party monsters to free the United States from the cruel yoke of slavery, but at the cost of a Civil War that left over 1 million dead. >

Jul-31-17  Big Pawn: On the Nature of Knowledge and Wisdom

If we ask who is the smartest person alive today, there is some general consensus, but not complete agreement. A quick google search returns images of Steven Hawking, but we also read about Christopher Langan, whose IQ measures between 195 and 210.

We also have the case of Terence Tao, est IQ 230, who was teaching other kids how to spell and do math when he was just *two* years old. At age 10 "he began participating in International Mathematical Olympiads and won a bronze in 1986, silver in 1987 and gold in 1988, becoming the youngest ever gold medalist in the Mathematical Olympiad" http://anonhq.com/10-most-intellige...

Christopher Langan, 65, was discovered a few years back now (doesn't seem like long ago) and for a while he was thought to be the smartest person alive. <65-year-old American autodidact, known as the smartest man in America, has an IQ reported to be between 195 and 210. Langan scored a perfect score in SAT even thought he slept his way through the exam. This genius has developed a theory of the relationship between mind and reality which he calls the “Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe”.> http://anonhq.com/10-most-intellige...

A similar question is who were the greatest geniuses of all time. A list of 13 appears on this page https://financesonline.com/13-most-...

You'll find Goethe at the top, which is where I've seen him on many lists. This list is about half made up of philosophers like Descarte, Leibniz, Mill, Erasmus, Spinoza, as well as others like Da Vinci, Newton, Dickens and Galileo.

So we've talked about who is the smartest person alive today and we've also talked about the greatest geniuses in history, but what about wisdom?

When you search for who is the wisest man alive, you get no answers. If you ask one another who is the wisest man of the world, no one knows.

This is because people do not recognize wisdom.

Knowledge is cheap and understanding has value, but wisdom is far greater than both.

We can know for sure that many, an incredible number, of extremely knowledgeable people (smart people) do not have wisdom. foolishness is rampant and pervasive. A fool cannot recognize wisdom and in fact, they laugh at it, counting is as foolishness!

So no one knows who the wisest man alive in the world today is.

Jul-31-17  Nisjesram: That is a good post , <big pawn> , about wisdom.

Wisdom means freedom from emotions and when we are free from emotions we see that our true nature is impersonal love and intelligence. Like Jesus. impersonal love means love not limited to a few persons but embracing all (all inclusive) . Impersonal love means happiness and freedom for all. And intelligence - always knowing what is the right thing to do - that action which is for the good of everyone, For good of humanity/community .

The way to that wisdom is 'be still and know...'

Jesus/Krishna and other enlightened beings had that wisdom , they taught that wisdom , however, very few people follow the path to that wisdom. Instead they follow teachings of jesus/Krishna et al very superficially.

In India , in recent times, Ramana mahrishi and Nisargadatta Maharaj taught the same wisdom and very few people were able to receive that.

Whereas in India there have always been gurus who teach wisdom at a very superficial level and they have huge following.

Humans are not yet ready to follow path of wisdom - very few have strength, courage, maturity to follow that path , path of teachings of Jesus , Krishna and other enlightened beings - and that is why world is facing so many problems. Humans are not wise.

It seems it will take many thousands years more when we see a large number of people following path of wisdom, path of teachings of Jesus, Krishna et al. Path that leads to freedom from emotions. 'be still and know that...' .

People get tired of reading a long series of posts that are nothing more than bickering and quarreling between two people and have nothing to do with an actual topic for debate.

There are certain posters that are incapable, even when they try, of posting a good, substantive, interesting post about any topic at all, and those posters are boring.

So now I take it upon myself to provide an environment conducive to smart, insightful, quality posting and I do that by deleting posts that are:

1. Quarrelsome
2. Bickering
3. Personal in nature
4. Small talk (even if nice and polite)
5. Unable to be elaborated on
6. Lacking original thought and insight (except in the case where it introduces a topic that can be developed)

OhioChessFan: An interesting article by Jonathan D Sarfati

http://creation.com/images/pdfs/tj/...

I wish I could find the rest of his letter that is cited midstream on page one of the pdf. I think this statement is important, and vastly ignored by most of the Christian world:

<In conclusion, I stand by my paper arguing that logic is essential for Christian faith, morality and evangelism. Logical thinking is an outworking of being created in the image and likeness of God and having 'the mind of Christ', the logos.>

Part of the greatest command for Christians is to love the Lord thy God with all thy mind. I regret that isn't very much in evidence in the world around me.
