| Jul-06-15 | | MarkFinan: Yeah, good luck Pengerz and thanks to Switch for this leg. I noticed that after I said something about the "doubled pawns in 20 games" bet, you didn't do another which I was gutted about because that was a money printer. Look into bringing it back but with less games or something please Pengerz, that's the only time I've bet and knew it was going to pay, I didn't even want to ask for clarification of the wager itself in case I tipped everybody else off. Just a suggestion. And of course thank you for running things Switch. |

 | | Penguincw: < Switch: ... You wouldn't be doing this if other people didn't think you could :) You have our full trust and support. > :) < Mark: ... Look into bringing it back but with less games or something please Pengerz, that's the only time I've bet and knew it was going to pay, I didn't even want to ask for clarification of the wager itself in case I tipped everybody else off. > Sure, I'll bring it back (how did it go again?). I was going to copy a lot of the ideas from previous bookies anyway. ;) If anyone has suggestions, please do say it. While everyone's waiting, I'll give my typical speech I give at the end of all legs: What I have here is some stats for the Spring Leg 2015: Grand Total
Total Wager: 2,248,171
# of events: 668
Juice: 68,782
Here's <Switch>'s first leg (Summer 2014): Total Wager: 1,989,905
# of events: 572
Juice: 61,078
Chessgames Bookie chessforum (hopefully I can get a profile to put this all up) And for the congrats:
- Congrats of course to <Switch> for running a great leg, with still no payoff errors. Good luck in the Summer Leg. I don't want to jinx anything, but I will warn you with the following: <wordfunph> and <Annie K.> both finished in <last> place in the leg following their trial. :o - Congrats to <centralfiles> for winning the leg after <Chnebelgrind> led by about 12K at one point (and also more cbs than places 2-5 <combined>). - Congrats to <MarkFinan> for qualifiying for the Championship Leg. I hope you've figured out whether or not you have the "professional gambling gene", and return again! - Congrats to <WinKing> for qualifiying (qualifying) with some last minute run to swipe 10th place. The last congrats is going out to anyone that deserves/wants a congrats. :) The unofficial final standings: https://web.archive.org/web/2015070... |

|
| Jul-06-15 | | WinKing: <chessgames.com: Give us just a little time to check the logfiles and we'll confirm that the leaderboard is correct by tomorrow afternoon.> Maybe you meant evening (or night)? ;) |
|
Jul-06-15
 | | Penguincw: I'm hoping for so as well.
Anyway, thanks all for the warm wishes. :) |
|
| Jul-06-15 | | greed and death: <CG>, would you be kind enough to disqualify the top 275 finishers to let me qualify for the Championship Leg? ;) |

 | | moronovich: Congratulations to <centralfiles> for comming in first.! And thanks to <Switch> for running the bookiegame,as well as I wish the new bookie in town,<Penquincw> all the best in his work. |
|
| Jul-07-15 | | centralfiles: Thanks Switch for the usual virtuoso performance.
It's good you didn't listen to my ideas too much i lost just about every single bet that was my idea. |
|
Jul-07-15
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Congratulations to <centralfiles> and the other qualifiers! Everybody else - better luck next time :) As already noted, we have an eager and bright new Bookie (<Penguincw>) who will run the show for the next three months. There will be a short testing/training period before the Summer Leg begins. |

 | | Penguincw: <cg> has cleared the way for the preseason to start, so here I go. I know this isn't necessary, but I'd like to give a little speech. I'll try to keep it short, but no promises. Anyway: Greetings all! I will be taking over for the Summer Leg. However, before I begin, I would like to send this list of notes out: - If you have something to say about this game (ex. a question), please post it here, and not my personal forum. I'll be using the Chessgames Bookie account (when I get it) to make posts and announcements. Every time I use it, I'll sign it with "Penguin" at the end. I'll also use my normal account. - FWIW: I live in Toronto, which is the same time zone as <cg>. In fact, not only am I the first user-bookie to be in the same time zone, but I'm the first one to even be from the <Western Hemisphere>. :| - I will start off with the preseason with some bets. Assuming nothing goes amiss, the regular season will start on July 11/12. (I should probably stop talking now)
Without further ado, let the games begin! |
|
Jul-07-15
 | | Penguincw: While you were reading that above announcement, I have started making the first bets of the preseason. :) Anyway, there are some chess tournaments going on, so here's some bets on those: Dutch Championship: Giri opening
Dutch Championship: Giri Special
6th Hainan Danzhou
Be sharp! ;)
However, this is the preseason. I may never get a chance again to make some exotic bets, so here I go. - I know there are many sports fans on this site, so I got a few bets on that (just baseball though, since I don't want to overdo it). MLB Double Header: STL-CHC + TB-KC
MLB Final Vote: AL
MLB Final Vote: NL
- Dear <centralfiles> and al.: A couple of weeks ago, I saw you got into some argument/debate/fight. Although I couldn't make out what you were trying to say, I heard it had something to do with a 50/50 chance of winning something. So: Exotic: Coin Flip
- <cg> never allows bets that can be manipulated by the bettors themselves. But, I do! Exotic: Even Odds
Some more bets are coming!
Just one last warning: this is the preseason, so prepare for an unorganized effort, but I'll get used to it. It's already harder than it looks! P.S. <Switch>, is there any way to "hide" the bets before allowing the public to see. Sometimes, when you were Bookie, there would be no bets up. Refresh the page, and all the bets are up, ready to go. :| |
|
| Jul-07-15 | | scout118: <Penguincw> Now that's the very definition of enthusiasm. A true man of action. <cg.com bookie> Thanks. You always do the right thing. |

Refresh the page, and all the bets are up, ready to go. :|> I'm not aware of any way to hide the bets (though I do agree it would be a nice option to have at times). Just put them up really fast :) |
|
Jul-07-15
 | | Penguincw: <scout118>
Thanks. :)
<Switch>
I swear, I just saw someone (that wasn't me) put a bet that read "Will the Bookie be able to figure out how to hide bets before the end of the leg. If so, the 'YES' ticket will pay; otherwise, the 'NO' ticket will pay." I quickly examined the bet, and noticed that the closing time was really early (July 3rd I think). I tried that with one of my own bets, but it didn't work, as it simply put the bet under the "closed events" section (while that other bet was only visible in the Admin Centre). When I came back, that mysterious bet was gone. :O |
|
Jul-07-15
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <Penguincw> I figured out a way to sorta hide bets, partially. You can pay out the "Sorta" and "Partially" tickets as training for a multiple-winner case :) |
|
Jul-07-15
 | | Penguincw: Sure, done (I'll have another multi-payoff bet as well, one where I'll actually collect juice). FTR: I love how they display how much juice you collect. :) |
|
Jul-07-15
 | | WannaBe: Okay, how many people actually read the whole <Head/Tail> exotic description? Allllll the way to the bottom? =)) |
|
| Jul-07-15 | | WinKing: <scout118: <cg.com bookie> Thanks. You always do the right thing.> No they don't. Why were my posts wiped out. I was having a civil discussion. |
|
Jul-07-15
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <WinKing> Your posts were not in any way objectionable; unfortunately, they were part of a discussion that turned so ugly it was better to erase it completely. Please do not take their deletion personally. |
|
| Jul-07-15 | | WinKing: <Chessgames Bookie: Please do not take their deletion personally.> I know my posts were 'collateral damage'. Nothing taken personally it just surprised me is all. |
