Aug-30-15  sydbarrett: Thanks for ending the So-So bet early. Was tired of looking at that ugly ol' albatross of a ticket. I still ended the day winning. Entertaining day. I think that's the last day I'll spend over 30 minutes on the game. I'll still play with effort, no worries. ;-)

  FSR: Won a few tickets:

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: Anand - So : Draw [cash in ticket] 100 YOU WIN! COLLECT 210

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: Carlsen - Grischuk : Grischuk [cash in ticket] 50 YOU WIN! COLLECT 702

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: Caruana - Vachier-Lagrave : Draw [cash in ticket] 150 YOU WIN! COLLECT 337

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: Double Draw No Bet : Aronian [cash in ticket] 50 YOU WIN! COLLECT 179

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: Nakamura - Aronian : Aronian [cash in ticket] 100 YOU WIN! COLLECT 471

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: Pick Three : Black-Draw-Draw [cash in ticket] 6 YOU WIN! COLLECT 360

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: Topalov - Giri : Draw [cash in ticket] 100 YOU WIN! COLLECT 173

Sinquefield Cup Rd 7: White vs. Black : Black [cash in ticket] 200 YOU WIN! COLLECT 722

Sinquefield Cup: So-So Result : 4 points or under [cash in ticket] 200 YOU WIN! COLLECT 596

Unfortunately, a Grischuk win was too absurd a possibility for me to have bet on it. I had losses too, of course, but they were outweighed by the aforesaid wins.

Aug-30-15  sydbarrett: lol @ Fred and his microscopic bets... hehehe... my tickets are always YOU WIN 500 YOU WIN 1979. sure i get a few YOU LOSE 240 etc. Sorry my mustachioed Costanza, I had to have a good chuckle at that... Winning only 596 on So-So. tsk-tsk. If I took that position, I'd have won 2000 or so. As it happened, I lost 1100 on So-So and I don't have any regret. I play on the grand cosmic scale, and not for measly potatoes.

FSR: Well, I bet 1500 (my max at the time) on Carlsen winning the tournament . . . .
Aug-30-15  sydbarrett: and Grischuk knocked him down a size.
Glorious day, glorious day

FSR: Heh, I was wrong. Looking at my winning tickets again, I see that I did bet on Grischuk. Only a piddly c$50, unfortunately, but it's better than nothing.
Aug-31-15  sydbarrett: re: "First the Worst, Second the Best"
If Aronian falls into 2nd place, "other" wins, ya?

Yes, it says so right here: < "However, if a user that is not one of the 4 listed places in 2nd place, 'OTHER' (which supersedes the other lines) will pay." >

Yeah, user. (facepalm)

Aug-23-15 <MarkFinan: <FSR: After Carlsen wins the tournament I'll have more money than you two put together.> Anyone for a memorable quote?

Lol. I'll be referring back to this post Fred.>

You were so right, Mark! Skilled Jedi and exceptional forecaster that you are, you obviously realized that I was being hopelessly pessimistic in thinking that it would take me so long to surpass you and <sydbarrett> put together. Today's standings, before Round 8 of the Sinquefield Cup begins:

<1. FSR 12,240
2. sydbarrett 11,669
...
190. MarkFinan 481>

I feel like such a fool. Mea culpa.

Aug-31-15  MarkFinan: <FSR: Well, I bet 1500 (my max at the time) on Carlsen winning the tournament . >

There's one born every minute.

I can't even read the post above mine, the dark side clouds everything. Or should I say.. Everything the dark side clouds, lol.

Aug-31-15  MarkFinan: Pengerz.. Yeah I had a few $$$ on the So bet, thanks for that. All I need is that BBB or WBB ticket to pay off now, lol.
Aug-31-15  sydbarrett: Anand is very unlikely to outperform Topalov, so I got some money coming to me from "H2H". Big boy money, Freddie. And aren't you a little concerned about Carlsen not finishing first... hmm

Penguincw: < Anand is very unlikely to outperform Topalov, so I got some money coming to me from "H2H". >

Speaking of which, now I should probbably update the status of all 4 pre-tournaments bets, just in case anyone else is wondering, and also to make sure I'm on the right track.

Sinquefield Cup: WINNER

There are some tickets that can not win, but many tickets still can. This bet could be settled as early as today. If it goes into playoffs, then Wednesday. If the standings get interesting today, then I might have a bet on will there be playoffs or not. And obviously if there are playoffs, I'll have some bets on that, though I will be busy that day (I'm busy everyday now).

Sinquefield Cup: H2H

Topalov leads Anand by a point, this bet could also be settled today. No side holds a tiebreak edge.

Sinquefield Cup: Car Wash

So far, Carlsen has defeated Caruana, MVL and So and can still defeat Nakamura and/or Anand. Caruana has defeated Topalov, but can still beat Giri and/or So. Basically, if Caruana beats So, "1 player" will pay. If he doesn't, "0 players" will pay.

Sinquefield Cup: AA Battery

Anand has beaten no one, drawn Topalov, Caruana, MVL, Giri and So. Will face Aronian and Carlsen. Aronian has beaten Caruana, So and Nakamura, and drawn MVL, Giri, Grischuk and Carlsen (who are all in =2nd right now). Will face Anand and Topalov.

Currently 2 players same result, could be up to 4.

Aug-31-15  sydbarrett: I was gonna ask for that Penguin, but I thought it would be too laborous to ask for. You read my mind, cheers

Penguincw: You're welcome <syd>. Good luck in your battle.

And for Sinquefield Cup Rd 8: Triple Opening Move, all 3 play 1.d4, so only "1.d4" will be paid. :|

Aug-31-15  sydbarrett: Today looks like a drawlover's pizza day, and not for me. Draws are detestable and are for spineless cowards

Afternoon leaderboard update. I'm not sure if it caught the 2 games just drawn, but <Mark>+<Syd>= 11,982 cbs. <FSR> has 11,993 cbs. 11 chessbucks!

  FSR: All games drawn.
Sep-01-15  MarkFinan: I deliberately lost everything on long shots so I could get a 650 loan. Something's wrong at the bookies when I need to do that to play.

FSR: Still greater than <syd> + <Mark>, but <Switch> and <Chnebelgrind> are making their move:

<1. FSR 11,576
2. sydbarrett 11,127
3. SwitchingQuylthulg 9,069
4. Chnebelgrind 7,080
...
204. MarkFinan 148>

Yesterday I had almost as much as those two put together, so this is worrisome.

FSR: I just hope today's not another five-draw day - which it could well be. That would be an unmitigated disaster.
Sep-01-15  MarkFinan: Rookie mistake by Frederick. At the end of a tournament only 1 or 2 players have something to play for, I predict 4 draws, 2 short, and 1 victorious victory‼ This leg was just me experimenting and seeing how losing feels, lol.
Sep-01-15  sydbarrett: Based on game results and how Chnebelle and Quaghog's fortunes correlate with them, I think I'm starting to know how those two like to bet.
Sep-01-15  sydbarrett: I bet a ton of money today. Maybe I overlooked a loophole and I'll lose it all. AHhAHAha you all wish
