| Apr-11-06 | | percyblakeney: Well, ended up betting heavily on draws in all tomorrow's games. 500 in total, most on Nikolic-Kozul, hopefully they can repeat something like this :-) Z Kozul vs P Nikolic, 2000 |
| Apr-11-06 | | iron maiden: For tomorrow, 20-1 on Georgiev looks like a good place to put some small change: Ivanchuk is always unpredictable and Georgiev has been playing very well lately. |

Could this be an elaborate ploy to drive up the odds on Chukky winning or drawing? :) |

 | | Sneaky: The fact that the handle on European Individual Championship: Rd 8 Bd 2: Ivanchuk-Georgiev has climbed up to 17,573 (compared to the entire European Championship at only 5,818) proves one thing: people love to gamble! I fear I keep making the same mistake: I have to get a bet in on EVERY game they offer. I can't help myself ... I'm like a kid in a candy store. Most days I win a bunch, lose a bunch, and end up only slightly off from where I started. I should just pick the one best bet each day and put all my eggs in that basket until the next day. |

 | | WannaBe: What I find more interesting is that members are offering their opinions on which way to bet... =) I'll see how it works out... |
| Apr-12-06 | | Dr.Fritz: thank you chessbookie.
Ironmaiden,LOL! I just bet on chucky hope he wins.
I feel this chessbookie thing is even more addictive than chess itself ;) |
| Apr-12-06 | | themadhair: Dear chessbookie, in playtesting was disinformation ever a factor? Consider the Ivanchuk-Georgiev game where it was possible to bet in such a way that both a draw and a black win would make money. Suppose someone had bet in this way and then posted here that Ivanchuk had very good chances. This may encourage people to bet on Ivanchuk and results in much better odds for our sneaky better.
I was just wondering what is the Chessbookie stance on this practice? Is is permissable as a legitimate part of the game? Or is it frowned on? |

 | | cu8sfan: <What I find more interesting is that members are offering their opinions on which way to bet...> They may be talking trash and bet on another outcome. It doesn't hurt to drive up the handle. (-: |
| Apr-12-06 | | percyblakeney: In my case it will be easy to see the sad effect on my account if there are no draws today... |
| Apr-12-06 | | naamloos: Something here. I have bet a total of 300 on draws today. |
| Apr-12-06 | | WarmasterKron: <<cu8sfan>Talking about having to be dead to be put on a bill...> Rather more obviously, the Queen of England is on all our currency, and remains very much alive. |

| Apr-12-06 | | zb2cr: <iron maiden>,
I note from your profile that you are a student at St.Mary's College in So. MD. I hear that among liberal arts colleges it's got a reputation for being good academically. I've been there--pretty setting, but it's in the middle of nowhere, no college town around it. So are there a lot of parties on campus on the weekends or is everybody pretty studious on the weekends as well as during the week? |

 | | lostemperor: I for one am glad <percyblakeney> gave the draw advice on Kozul vs Ivanchuk, last round. I had 20 on Ivanchuk with black but I found percy's reasoning very sensible (and he was a darn good beta-tester). So I put 70 on the draw what happened to be correct. But soo far I have only a small profit. I missed to put money on a few good bets:( <themadhair> in the beta testing we were not allowed to discuss anything. It was not always easy but we succeeded. But now that we're allowed to speak who knows if an advice of someone is bluff or genuine. Considering this it's just like in chess. If your opponent looks worried (or happy) about his/her position, do you believe him/her or do you think he/she bluffing? You never know for sure:) |

I was just wondering how much such techniques could affect the game. Maybe the Chessbookie World Champ will not be the one who made the best bets, but rather who was the best in coercing others into certain bets. This may have huge implications on how best to play the game. It brings a whole new dimension to it. |

| Apr-12-06 | | iron maiden: <zb2cr> Probably depends on which dorm you're in. |
| Apr-12-06 | | percyblakeney: A so-so day for draws... Kozul beat Nikolic with black, and so is Atalik doing against Peptan. Ivanchuk-Georgiev and Balogh-Fressinet drew, though. |
| Apr-12-06 | | percyblakeney: ...and finally Peptan-Atalik finished, 0-1. |

 | | Sneaky: Woo hoo! I'm fabulously wealthy! I'm financially secure! Woo hoo! |
| Apr-12-06 | | iron maiden: And I just got past $1,000 for the first time thanks to Kozul's black win. |
