Chnebelgrind: <unsound> Yes. As in rd 6 we are betting on games that are already over.
Jan-28-08  unsound: Not any more! Thanks, CG Bookie.
Jan-28-08  pawnofdoom: <Chessgames Bookie> Why did a bunch of bets like Gibtelecom: Rd 7: Georgiev vs Bu get canceled?

Chessgames Bookie: <pawnofdoom> Due to a scheduling mix-up on our part, we opened the betting for round 7 at roughly the same time the round had in fact started. We're also going over the records for round 6 to see if there is an issue there as well.

We're going to put up round 8 betting (with the correct closing-time) in just a few minutes.

We apologize for the confusion, but we're back on track now.

Sneaky: It's like trading stocks. If everybody else is buying, you want to be selling.

Oddly I didn't have any money on Magnus to win. I knew it was a longshot but I figured the Magnus maniacs would be overbet him just out of fan-loyalty. Thank goodness Aronian snuck in at the last minute.

Annie K.: Yeah, betting on Carlsen hardly shows any profit. :s

I decided to refrain from betting on the Corus A winner this year, keeping in mind that it's traditionally the hardest tournament to predict. I wish I had shown similar restraint WRT Corus B and the Honorary group too... well, I'm not exactly reduced to begging for my bread just yet, ;p but I would be better off.

<lostemperor> I notice you're not telling any secrets though! :)

Stonehenge: <Bookie> Malakhov has been removed from the starting list (Moscow Open).

Chessgames Bookie: Stonehenge - we're going to wait to make 100% sure that Malakhov doesn't show up at the last minute to play in the accelerated schedule, then we'll issue refunds for all Malakhov tickets.
Feb-06-08  Ichiro: Malakhov is playing 6 day tournament.
Feb-06-08  malthrope: <Ichiro: Malakhov is playing 6 day tournament.>

<Ichiro> is quite correct - GM Vladimir Malakhov (RUS 2689) is there and playing in the 6 day session. He is now paired up with IM Mikhail Krylov on Board 13 in Round #6 (on the 'main pairing list' and he appeared there earlier, btw). However, GM Alexey Dreev (RUS 2633) does appear to be an official "No Show" and he is not to be found on any pairing lists that I've seen (Rounds #1-#6)... He is one of the original 21 players (of 20 players plus 1 'Other') to be found on the betting page // Moscow Open: Winner

Everyone else (on the original betting ticket above) appears to be there and playing. Hope this doesn't make your life too difficult <Chess Bookie> - wishing I had better news... :) Regards, - Mal

Chessgames Bookie: Does the 6 day tournament merge with the main tournament or are they separate events?
Feb-07-08  malthrope: <Chessgames Bookie: Does the 6 day tournament merge with the main tournament or are they separate events?>

Wishing I had all the answers but I don't. What I do know now (after further checking) is that GM's Vladimir Malakhov, Alexey Dreev and Pavel V. Tregubov all started out in the 6-day tournament (did not start in the main 'Open A' which is nine rounds). They were all listed as bets on the original betting wager [ Moscow Open: Winner ] Everyone else on the betting list started out by playing in the first round of nine rounds (I checked each one against the round #1 'Open A' pairings).

Now to answer your specific question - both Malakhov and Tregubov are paired up against opponents that started out by playing in the 'Open A' section - all 9 rounds (IM Mikhail Krylov on board #13 and GM Anton Korobov on board #8 respectively). GM Dreev however is no where to be found! ;) He is *not* listed in the Main 'Open A' round #6 pairings. So, I'll let you sort out this mess as it appears that both Malakhov and Tregubov are now integrated into the main 'Open A' chess tournament and playing against opponents that started out by playing in the 'Open A' event from round #1 (of 9 full rounds). I hope that all helps! :) Best Regards, - Mal

Feb-07-08  TigerG: Is Dreev even playing in the Moscow Open? He doesn't seem to be there.
Feb-07-08  malthrope: <TigerG: Is Dreev even playing in the Moscow Open? He doesn't seem to be there.>

He's there and playing verified via the Active 6-day chess event (pairings listed) and also pictures which indicate he played 4 rounds and then withdrew (exactly what he did last year, btw)... ;) - Mal

Feb-07-08  malthrope: Just a quick question <Chess Bookie> - this game Moscow Open: Rd 6: Popov vs Novikov was not paid off yet? (still listed as T.B.A. - however all the rest of the Moscow Open round #6 bets have been paid off). GM Ivan Popov won quickly in 29 moves and the results are shown (from 4 points to 5 points) in his 7th round pairings against GM Zvjaginsev on board #5 [ Moscow Open: Rd 7: Zvjaginsev vs Popov ]

Did you forget one bet? ;) Thanks! :) - Mal

Feb-11-08  sweeviltree: Moscow Winner settle 10 Feb? I am no credits to pay this guy Loanshark, so refund = interest x 1 day. If posilb.e
