 | | lostemperor: Incredible run of <technical draw> to reach third place now (what used to be my place:)). |
|
| Feb-21-08 | | technical draw: I better enjoy it while it lasts because in the next cycle I have $6,000 in losing bets that will take me out of the leader board. Oh well, I started with $1,000 and not $10,000 so now we know that it's possible to win even when you start low. |

| Feb-21-08 | | Micawbr: <ChessBookie> or <CB Programmer> I did not get the Anand payout on the $100 wager as I posted yesterday. Here is more info: Morelia-Linares: Rd 5: Leko vs Anand : Anand [info] 100 LIVE BET 4:1 4.89 489 Feb-20-08 I tried to add to the wager with 1 minute to go, $100, but I made a typo on the amount so it might have been only $10, trying to get the bet down before the deadline. I got an Error because bidding had closed. Perhaps this is the two ticket problem. I think it was Annie who had a similar problem in previous leg. Thank you. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Micawbr> We see what happened. That bet was accidentally paid off as a draw and when we saw the mistake we corrected it within a few seconds, before anybody had the time to cash in tickets for the draw. But you must have slipped in at just the right (wrong) time and threw away your losing tickets, including your Anand bet. We will credit your account for the appropriate amount (489 I believe) and we'll also check to make sure nobody else is in your situation. We'll take care of this later today. Thanks for your patience. |
|
| Feb-22-08 | | Micawbr: <ChessBookie> I hope the solution to this problem was quick and easy; I know from my own programming experience that these things can take a lot of time, even if the final resolution is simple. Thanks for your effort, Tom |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Micawbr> This one was no big deal. You did indeed get the full 100 chessbuck bet in before the deadline, so we'll honor the full amount. We credited your account for 489 chessbucks. We could not find anybody else who had a chance to toss away their ticket in that short window, so that should settle it. |
|
| Feb-22-08 | | Micawbr: <ChessBookie> Are you going to settle the Aeroflot winner tickets soon? The final standings have been posted on the official site for about 12 hours now. http://www.aeroflotchess.com/result... |

| Feb-22-08 | | Micawbr: <Chessgames Bookie:><Micawbr> <This one was no big deal. You did indeed get the full 100 chessbuck bet in before the deadline, so we'll honor the full amount. We credited your account for 489 chessbucks. We could not find anybody else who had a chance to toss away their ticket in that short window, so that should settle it. > Unfortunately it is a big deal. I already had $100 on Anand so if I got the second bet down in time then my account should be credited with $200 x 489. However even the 489 is wrong, my paper and pencil notes have a decimal payout of 5.16 to 5.21. I am sure you can verify this in your database. Or, perhaps, one of the other Anand winners has records. Co-incidentally, $489 was the Carlsen win payout. The $489 payout for the Anand win, which I quoted in earlier posts, was not the final tote board total. So the adjustment to my account should be 5.16 x $200 bet = $1032 and that should settle it as long as the error message I got was false. For all I know from what you are telling me, I got the second hundred bux down in time, but I am skeptical. I have programmed and I tend to trust error messages. You owe me at least for the first $100 bet. However I did get that error message on the second $100 (Error: the betting is closed) - your programming is good so I think the error message indicated an error, i.e., I didn't get the second hundred hundred down in time - or you owe me for the second hundred. As I said the programming is good, but there might still be a bug (No such thing as a perfect program as the saying goes). You guys have got to be busy if not overworked, but I think the root of this problem should be determined and fixed. I am pretty sure this very error has happened before, and if not fixed, will again. Thank you,
Tom

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Micawbr> I'm sorry for saying that "your second bet was accepted", the core fact here is that you had one accepted bet for that game, c$ 100 on Anand for Morelia-Linares: Rd 5: Leko vs Anand, and not c$ 200. If you tried to get more than 100 on that game then it must have not been accepted. (The logfiles don't bother keeping track of bets that are locked out for being late.) The figure of 489 was gotten from this link: Morelia-Linares: Rd 5: Leko vs Anand -- you can see that the decimal odds for Anand were 4.89, and 4.89x100 = 489. <Co-incidentally, $489 was the Carlsen win payout.> I'm not sure what you mean by this or what Carlsen has to do with it. |

| Feb-23-08 | | Micawbr: <Chessgames Bookie:> <I'm sorry for saying that "your second bet was accepted", the core fact here is that you had one accepted bet for that game, c$ 100 on Anand> Okay. Thanks for checking it out. It was the beating the deadline in combo with the disapearing ticket that needed explanation for me. You guys must have been fast in the fixing of the Anand result if I was the only one affected. <Co-incidentally, $489 was the Carlsen win payout.> <Chessbookie> I'm not sure what you mean by this or what Carlsen has to do with it. The $516 I wrote in earlier posts was from the Carlsen game. Morelia-Linares: Rd 5: Topalov vs Carlsen
I transposed the payouts so thought the Carlsen game also paid $489, which would have been something of a coincidence. My confusion, sorry. So it doesn't have much to do with anything. Thank you.
