Apr-15-08  hms123: <Chessgames Bookie> With all due respect, waiting until the last minute isn't possible in the World V. Timmerman match because we don't know when the last minute will be. GMT might have moved on any of a number of days because of the extension. I am not sure what the solution is--one takes the same risk at the racetrack with real money at stake.
Apr-15-08  malthrope: I side with <ChessBookie> on this one re: bets made on the GMT game (or any CC game in progress here on CG.com).

The 'Rules of Extension' clearly state...

<Three times per game, the Grandmaster may use an extension. During an extension, the Grandmaster may take up to one additional week (7 days) to come up with a move.

If all three extensions have been used, and the Grandmaster still fails to move in time, the Grandmaster forfeits the game.>

So, when making a bet if the GM takes an extension during the progress of the bet that is his right to do so. Thus my wager(s) placed continue on and remain valid until a move is actually played during the course of the extension. I fully accept that and play by that rule. BTW: I've bet enormous sums on these CC games at times (over 7.5K in c-bucks). <Especially> during the extensions. ;) Regards, - Mal

Sneaky: I'd like to bet Svidler to win Baku except for one little detail... SVIDLER HASN'T WON A TOURNAMENT SINCE THE CARTER ADMINISTRATION!

Haha I'm just joking, but you all know what I mean.

Apr-16-08  technical draw: I've dropped to 48th. Time to bring in the big guns. I have< Abdullah the Butcher> as prime adviser so I can't lose. I got< Killer Kowolski >on stand by, too.
Apr-17-08  Judah: <MarkThornton: Over a week ago, I put 200 chessbucks on <40...Nd3> in The World vs Gert Jan Timmerman, at odds of at least 8:1. If GJT had played that move last week, I would have won >1600 chessbucks.

A week later, my same bet has odds of 11:4, so I now win about 550 chessbucks.

This feels slightly unfair>

But for all you know, had GMT moved at the extension, he would not even have played Nd3 at all. Presumably he was thinking about his move.

Apr-17-08  malthrope: <technical draw: <Wannabe> in the top ten! This could be a biblical warning.>

Mal shrieks and screams <"Run for your Lives!"> Oh wait, Nostradamus didn't predict anything important happening this year... ;-)

<technical draw: Abdullah and Kowolski have done their jobs, I'm up from 48th to 11th. Just be cool from now on TD.>

Mal takes a Big barrel of <Gator Juice> and dumps it right on top of <TD>'s head. Pats him on the back and tells him, "This betting game ain't over yet!" ~lol~

I'm rooting for myself in the Dos Hermanas: Winner !!

Apr-18-08  Buddy Revell: <Chessgames Bookie> The settlement date for Dos Hermanas: Winner is actually April-20-08, and not April-18-08, right?
Apr-18-08  malthrope: <Buddy Revell: <Chessgames Bookie> The settlement date for Dos Hermanas: Winner is actually April-20-08, and not April-18-08, right?>

Yeah Buddy and I'm sure <ChessBookie> will get this all squared away later today. It's just a 3 day Rapids event and ends this Sunday. ;) The demo test DGT board is working well - it's presently (was) showing a fantasy 'Vallejo-Shirov' game with 1. g3 c6 2. Nf3 c5 3. b3 e6 4. Ba3 e5! ~lol~

<WannaBe: [...] I'm rooting for myself in the Dos Hermanas: Winner !!>

1,000 c-bucks on <WannaBe> ! :)) Oh wait, what are the odds? :^)

Apr-18-08  technical draw: <Wannabe> Dos Hermanas means two sisters are you sure you're rooting for your self to win it?

Apr-20-08  technical draw: <Wannabe> Babelfish translates Dos Hermanas as Two Sisters. So may I suggest you stop sampling the ware. You're a computer genius so what are you doing in a stinky rat infested hole in the wall in the ghetto? You should be working for NASA. DR. TD. PsyD. (I could clean your ashtrays for a taste)
